Every person has a specific calling; some choose to enter the priesthood, some opt for single blessedness, while many choose to get married and have children. For Louise Warneford, she had no doubt in her heart and mind that her purpose was to become a mother.

Louise and her husband Mark did everything they could to conceive a child. After trying different ways to conceive and spending almost $100,000, they endured eighteen painful miscarriages over the past sixteen years before finding out why they couldn't bear a child.

When they were close to giving up, they visited a doctor who suggested that a donor embryo might finally give them the child they wanted. Louise was hesitant, afraid to go through the harrowing experience of waiting to see whether she could finally have a child.

Despite this, she finally decided to give it one last try before she turned 50. Their final attempt was what worked for them, and at 48, Louise gave birth to their healthy baby boy at 37 weeks.

Starting a Family Together

The couple met in 1999, and Louise was determined to start a family with Mark after getting to know him. However, his previous vasectomy from an earlier relationship made that quite challenging for them.

A doctor suggested sperm insemination as a way for them to conceive a child. They looked for a donor with the same attributes as Mark and went through the process several times.

Unfortunately, every time Louise fell pregnant, they would lose the baby at around 14 weeks, as doctors wouldn't find a heartbeat. This was heartbreaking for Louise because every single time, she'd get her hopes up that this was finally her time to become a mother.

Despite everything Louise and Mark went through, everything was absolutely worth it for them once they had their "miracle" baby boy, William.

Trying Different Methods of Conceiving

After sperm insemination didn't work for them, they tried to undergo the IVF process. Unfortunately, It was the same result, and they would always lose the baby. By 2010, Louise wanted to give up on her dream. Speaking about it some more, she said:

"There is no grief that can compare to losing a much loved and wanted baby—all your hopes and dreams are shattered."

Throughout her eighteen pregnancies, Louise never took any photos. She was always afraid of the possibility of yet another miscarriage, and looking back at pictures would bring her even more painful memories.

Diagnosing the Problem

Despite not wanting to go through any more heartbreaks, she decided to finally find out more about why she couldn't bear a child. When she did, she was told she had "killer cells" that made it difficult for her to carry a child to term.

Louise admitted to the doctor that she couldn't go through the same pain again, but he encouraged her to give it one more try, this time through an embryo transfer. She sat with this information for four years before finally giving it a try at 47.

Finally, Louise went on to have a full-term pregnancy. Despite being high-risk for the entire nine months, she gave birth to her son William at 37 weeks through a C-section.

Worth the Wait

Despite everything Louise and Mark went through, everything was absolutely worth it for them once they had their baby boy, William, whom they call a "miracle." From the moment Louise finally held William in her arms, she was smitten.

"When the surgeon handed him to me, I just couldn't believe it," the mom admitted. Now, she's a doting mom to William, who some assume is her grandchild. They ignore these comments, as they're over the moon to have William in their lives.

Despite the wide age gap between William and his parents, Louise and Mark couldn't be happier that their family is complete. With an energetic child in their care, Louise and Mark are taken back to their youth as they try to keep up with their little one's energy.
