Worth $670M, David Beckham Shops at Local Grocery & Hammers Nails — He’s ‘Saving the Pennies’ for Kids
David and his wife, Victoria Beckham, are among the world's most famous couples. Together the couple has built a fortune and used to spoil each other with extravagant gifts. Now that they have four children, they're "saving the pennies" and enjoying the simpler things in life, like a McDonald's meal or fish and chips from a local shop.
David Beckham is a famous soccer player with many accolades, and his wife is just as well known as him. Victoria Beckham rose to fame as a member of the singing group, Spice Girls, and eventually became a fashion designer.
When Victoria met David, he had not even been signed with the first team, but Victoria was a sensation. Nonetheless, he knew he wanted to meet her and marry her.

David said he told his friends he wanted to meet a specific Spice Girl; luckily, Victoria came to see a football match. She enjoyed herself and had a few drinks, which led her to give him her number.
The love between them grew stronger; Victoria confessed that learning the offside rule of soccer was the most difficult to grasp, but she learned more and more each day.
David and Victoria started their year in 1998 with a celebration and announced that they were engaged but were not planning to get married until 1999.
But the next year was also filled with more good news. The couple revealed they were expecting their first child, Brooklyn Joseph, who was born in 2001.
It had been rumored that the couple decided on their son's name because he was conceived in New York. But Victoria set the record straight in her memoir "Learning to Fly." She said they came up with the name in Marbella, Spain.
The couple already knew they were having a boy and that he would potentially become a footballer, so they wanted a name that would be catchy.
Victoria also said she had always loved the name "Brook," from where she eventually derived the name Brooklyn, but it was just a coincidence and the cherry on top that she found out she was pregnant while in New York.
Their wedding was held in Luttrellstown Castle, right outside Dublin, and Brooklyn was their ring bearer. They also had some of the most famous people in attendance, like Elton John, some of David's teammates, the Spice Girls, and singer Michael George.
As one of the most fashion-forward people, Victoria kept her dress simple. She wore a beautiful strapless Vera Wang gown with a sculpted neckline and a 20-foot train, topping the look off with an 18 karat tiara inspired by Princess Diana's jeweler. For the reception, the family of three changed into matching deep purple outfits and danced the night away.
The couple expanded their family three years after tying the knot and welcomed their second son Romeo in 2002. In 2005, the Beckhams brought another addition to their brood and had their son, Cruz.
After having three boys, Victoria was unsure if she and her husband would have more children, but they were not opposed to the idea because the couple had always wanted a big family.

The fashion designer admitted that three sons were a lot of work, but another child would still be a blessing. But that special day came sooner; David and Victoria announced they welcomed a baby girl, Harper, in 2011.
The Close-Knit Beckham Family
When Victoria visited the ladies of "The View," the hosts congratulated the fashion designer on her long-lasting marriage. The Beckhams are also known for being one the most good-looking couples, so the ladies wanted to know what attracted Victoria to her husband, besides his looks.
Victoria did not shy away from saying that her husband was indeed attractive, but she loved how much he cared for his family and was a present and amazing father to their four children. The former Spice Girl gushed over her close-knit family and said she felt incredibly lucky to be doing life with her "soulmate."
The Beckhams are one of the most famous families in the world, but their publicity also feeds into their children's lives. Now that Brooklyn is grown and even married, and their son Cruz is a teenager, Victoria was asked how she deals with seeing news about her children in the media and how they, as a family, handle media attention.
The mother of four said they are a very close family with open communication, so they just talk through everything and get through whatever ups and downs as a unit.
When Victoria and David first announced their engagement, they were young and at the peak of their fame, but the couple has withstood the test of time and is now celebrating 20 years of marriage.
The couple keeps the spark alive by spending time together and enjoying dinner dates, but David said the most important thing in his life is spending as much time with his wife and children as much as possible because time flies.
The former footballer said when he first became a father, people complained a lot about waking up at night and feeding their children, but he cherished that phase the most. He was happy to wake up at any hour just to spend those precious moments with them.
David and Victoria admitted that having children has changed them in many ways; the soccer star revealed that he tends to get emotional watching a movie on the plane and blames both attitude and having children as the source of those emotions. He even admitted he cried at the birth of all four children.
David also said being a father has come with a lot of anxiety because he always worries if his children are safe; even though he has teenagers now, he still checks on them at night.
The Beckhams' Cheap Dates
It was a shocker when the residents of a village in the Midlands saw Victoria and David getting fish and chips at a local shop. The couple was in Willington, a town south of Derbyshire, to watch their son Cruz play football.
While there, they stopped at a local chip shop to grab a bite. According to the business owner, Graham Gibson, the couple is known to buy fish and chips at his shop in between matches.
Gibson said a local told him that David Beckham and his wife were outside his restaurant, and he rushed to serve them. Victoria sat in the car, and the business owner approached her and asked that she review his food on the internet.
Victoria agreed and wrote "Lovely Chips x, Victoria,” and Gibson pirinted the review and pinned it in his restaurant for people to believe him.
The couple's celebrity status afforded them luxuries and they used to gift each other extravagant and expensive gifts, like cars and houses, before they had children.
"But we're obviously saving the pennies now because we have so many children to be extravagant with," David admitted. Now they enjoy the simpler things in life, like getting each other smaller and thoughtful gifts.
David also had a humble upbringing, so he understood the importance of saving money. His father used to work as a gas fitter, and his mother worked full-time and came home to cut hair from 6 pm to 11 pm.
So David said the romantic time he spends with his wife is much simpler with a nice dinner, but he's also a normal citizen who plants trees and a hands-on husband that takes on building projects for his house.
Besides eating at a local chip shop, the couple also loves a good McDonald's meal, which is a surprising choice for a football player worth $670 million.
