A girl waited for her classmates to show up at her birthday party for an hour before her adoptive mother told her no one would come. "No one wants to be friends with me!" the girl cried. Little did she know that she would make new friends at an unexpected place a few hours later.

After Lily began living with her adoptive family, she had to start her life from scratch. The little girl had to make friends at her new school and adjust to her new house simultaneously.

A week after joining a school, one of Lily's classmates invited everyone to her birthday party. When Lily saw how everyone was excited to attend the other girl's birthday party, she thought of an idea.

Later that day, she went home and told her adoptive mother, Samantha, about it. "A girl in my class invited everyone to her birthday party this weekend!" Lily said.

"Oh, wow!" Samantha exclaimed. "You can wear your favorite skirt to the party, Lily."

Lily nodded and then told her mother about the idea. "I want to host a party here next month on my birthday, mom. Do you think that's a good idea?"

"Yes, you can invite your classmates. I will bake a delicious chocolate cake for you, sweetheart!" Samantha replied cheerfully.

Lily thought inviting her classmates to her birthday party would allow her to interact and make new friends. She felt this was her chance to impress everyone at school.

The little girl waited a few more minutes for her classmates until her adoptive mother told her the bitter truth.

A month later, Lily made personalized handwritten invites for her classmates and distributed them in class. "I hope you all will come to my house tomorrow!" she said.

"Don't worry, Lilly," a girl replied. "We will be there!"

The next day, Lily wore the new dress her adoptive mother bought her as a birthday present. She also helped Samantha bake the birthday cake and set the dinner table.

"Your friends will be here any minute, sweetheart," Samantha said. "Why don't you freshen up?"

"Okay. I'll be back in five minutes."

Lily expected her classmates to arrive in ten minutes, but an hour later, she was still waiting for them. "Why isn't anyone here yet?" Lily asked Samantha.

The little girl waited a few more minutes for her classmates until her adoptive mother told her the bitter truth. "Sweetheart, I don't think they are coming here today," Samantha held Lily's hand and caressed her shoulder.

"But why?"

"I don't know, Lily. They might be busy or something," Samantha tried to come up with excuses. She understood Lily's classmates had lied to her about attending the party. They only wanted to get off the hook when she invited them.

After watching her adoptive mother make excuses, Lily realized that her classmates never wanted to attend her party. "I wanted them to come so I could make friends!" the girl cried.

"I will never find friends! None of my classmates like me, mom!"

Lily cried hysterically, sitting at the dining table while Samantha tried to calm her down. "Sweetheart, don't cry!" Samantha said. "Come on. You don't need friends to have fun, do you? You're a strong girl. You don't need anyone!"

Once Lily stopped crying, Samantha talked to her husband, and they agreed to take her to the nearby amusement park to cheer her up. They wanted to make her birthday memorable and thought she would enjoy the rides.

When Lily entered the amusement park, she asked her parents to let her sit on all the rides. "Sure, honey!" Samantha said. "It's your big day, and you should enjoy it."

Watching Lily have fun in the amusement park relieved Samantha and her husband. "I hope what happened earlier doesn't affect my baby. She's such a sweet little girl. I wonder why her classmates didn't show up," Samantha said to her husband.

After Lily returned from the rides, Samantha bought her popcorn and cotton candy. "Can we go to the shooting range?" Lily asked Samantha while chewing the buttery popcorn.

"Why not?" Samantha replied. "When I was your age, I loved going to the shooting range. I think you will enjoy it too!"

Lily and her adoptive parents visited the shooting range, where the girl met four friendly children. "Do you guys come here every day?" Lily asked them after learning they were children of the amusement park employees.

Lily's eyes lit up when she heard her mother's idea.

"My mom brings me here three times a week!" one of the girls replied.

"But I come here almost every day," a boy said.

Since the children frequently visited the amusement park, they knew a few shortcuts and games hidden from the public. "We can show you around if you want, Lily," one of them said.

Then, Lily turned to her adoptive parents and asked them if she could go with the kids. "Sure, honey," Samantha replied. "We will wait for you here."

The children took Lily with them and showed her some hidden places and games. An hour later, she returned to the shooting range, where her parents were waiting for her.

"I had so much fun with my new friends, mom!" Lily told Samantha.

"I'm so glad you had fun on your birthday, sweetheart," Samantha hugged Lily.

"Why don't you invite them to our house? We can celebrate your birthday with them."

Lily's eyes lit up when she heard her mother's idea. She quickly returned to her new friends and invited them to her birthday party. "My mom bakes the best cakes! I'm sure you guys will love it!" she said.

The children were delighted but didn't know if their parents would allow them to go with Lily. "Let us ask our parents," they told Lily and asked her to wait.

A few minutes later, the kids returned and said they were ready to attend her birthday party. Then, Samantha and her husband drove home with Lily and her new friends.

Once they reached home, Lily cut her birthday cake and gave everyone chocolates she had bought for her classmates. "I'm so happy you guys came to my birthday party!" she exclaimed.

Later that night, Lily hugged her adoptive parents and thanked them for taking her to the amusement park. "I couldn't have asked for better parents. You guys made my birthday so special!" she said. "Thank you! You are the best mom and dad!"
