Like John, Kerri Higuchi is of Korean descent and attended the prestigious University of California, Berkeley. Kerri's first role was in the 2002 Jennifer Lopez thriller "Enough," followed by Dr. Elizabeth Chen's role in "Grey's Anatomy" in 2005.

John and Kerri Are Parents of Two - And John Even Wrote a Children's Book

John and Kerry welcomed their first child, Kage, in May 2008, and five years later, they welcomed a baby girl, whose name they have never revealed. The couple has been very careful to protect their children from public scrutiny.

Neither child ever appears on their dad's social media, and he only speaks of them in the vaguest of terms. Before Kage's birth, he confessed that the idea of fatherhood made him nervous. He said:

"They're just going to give you the baby, and then you have to take it home. There aren't any doctors around telling you what to do!"

Being a father and the recent pandemic has inspired John to write a children's book called "Troublemaker," about a 12-year-old Korean-American kid who has to deal with social upheaval and some morally challenging issues. John explained:

"I was such a reader as a kid, and during those years, I never really saw myself on book covers."

The book is set in 1993 after the trial of the police officers who allegedly brutalized Rodney King. The protagonist experiences the riots that tore through Los Angeles at the time. John hopes that the book will facilitate the difficult dialogue between parents and preteens about racial and ethnic conflicts that have been afflicting so many communities across the United States and the world.
