Soccer legend David Beckham is the loving father of four kids. Initially, he and his wife, Victoria Beckham, had three sons. After a couple of years, they were ecstatic to find out that their fourth little one was going to be a girl.
Although David is renowned for his prowess on the soccer field, the athlete considers being a dad his most crucial role. David and Victoria welcomed their first child, Brooklyn Joseph Beckham, a few months before they married in 1999.
Following his birth, the new parents tied the knot and settled down. They expanded their family with Brooklyn's younger brothers, Romeo James Beckham in 2002 and Cruz David Beckham in 2005.
Finally, in 2011, David and Victoria received the news that she was pregnant for the fourth time. Naturally, the family was excited about having another little Beckham baby, but what sent them "over the moon" was finding out they were having a little girl. Harper Seven Beckham was born on July 10, 2011.
David opened up about his daughter's name, saying they chose Harper because it is an old English name. They also picked it because of its connection to the author of "To Kill a Mockingbird," Harper Lee. The name Seven, on the other hand, holds spiritual significance for the soccer player and his wife.
The Beckham Kids are Always on the Spotlight
Unfortunately, being the child of a famous athlete comes with visibility, and internet users have focused on Harper since she was just a little baby. They often commented on her weight whenever photos of her surfaced online.
David wanted to respond when he saw the relentless online bullying, but his family and friends advised him not to poke the bear, since a response would most likely have triggered more ill-natured comments. Nonetheless, Victoria and her husband couldn't stand their daughter being belittled.
How Does Doting Dad David Protect His Only Daughter?
Following these incidents, David has become much more protective when it comes to his little girl. The soccer star opened up about how he and his wife have tried to shield her from body-shaming and online bullying, saying they've largely kept her away from social media thus far. However, they know it's a looming threat.
Victoria once shared: "Harper isn't on social media, so we don't have to worry about that just yet. But seeing how cruel people can be, yes it really does [concern me]. She's at that age where her body is going to start changing, but it's about making sure that we communicate a lot as a family and she surrounds herself with nice friends."
Harper is All Grown Up
Nowadays, Harper has grown into a lovely young lady. With such fashionable parents as her inspiration, she's often seen experimenting when it comes to her makeup and clothes.
In fact, she enjoys putting on makeup not only on herself, but on her parents, too! David allows his daughter to put makeup on him, something not many dads typically allow.
This is a far cry from years ago, when her mom admitted she wasn't too interested in fashion. Victoria once shared that her and David's youngest doesn't enjoy wearing revealing outfits or makeup.
It came to a point where Victoria shared how Harper criticized her for wearing revealing clothes when she was part of the Spice Girls. The famous mom remembered how outraged her daughter looked when she saw it and swore she would "absolutely not" wear something similar.
It seems Harper now approves of her mom's fashion choices, however, as Victoria proudly admitted that her daughter was her top muse. Harper is often seen wearing her mom's creations, and it's something she does with pride.
Victoria and David couldn't be prouder of how Harper has grown. In November, Victoria opened up about being so proud of Harper for being a "strong and caring" person. "I often tell Harper how important it is to be kind and call out if anyone is ever being bullied – especially if there’s ever another little girl on her own in the playground, because that was once her mummy!"
Like Victoria, David does his best to make sure she grows up with tons of fantastic memories. The doting dad often shares posts of their adventures on his Instagram, and it's clear that David has a soft spot for his only daughter.
In many videos, he shares how they go on unexpected outings to buy ice cream and see the sights when traveling. They indulged in their love of treats by going out for gelato at 9 a.m. in Venice, and enjoying donuts with the rest of the family.
Harper Seven added farming to her many list of activities thanks to her dad. They use it as a bonding activity, as it's something they can easily do in the comfort of their home.
Other than farming, she also accompanies David on Inter Miami CF activities, a football club that he owns. Harper is a football enthusiast like her brothers. She goes to trainings with her dad, and cheers for Inter Miami passionately from the sidelines whenever they watch games lives.
In the same way she's close to her parents, she's shares an equally close bond with her elder brothers and sister-in-law, Nicola Peltz-Beckham. They spend a lot of time together, and are often photographed side by side in familt events.
