The film stars three other Hollywood legends, Susan Sarandon, Richard Gere, and William H. Macy. During an interview with Extra that month, Diane discussed the movie and opened up about her love life.

The actress made a shocking confession about how long she hadn't been out on a date. She also explained why she hadn't been in a relationship and gave her thoughts on why men weren't asking her out.
Diane on How She Feels about Not Dating for the Last 15 Years
On January 24, 2023, Diane, then 77, confessed how long she hadn't been out on a date jokingly stating: "Let's [say] 15 years. They probably just thought, 'Enough's enough, stop… she's too weird.' I'm kind of odd, but I'm doing fine."
However, the star figured one day someone would marry her. The star's comments came three years after she revealed in another July 2019 interview that she hadn't "been on a date in, I would say, 35 years."
The Oscar Award-winning actress was also asked if she wanted men to ask her out. She said she had many male friends and friends in general, but no one wanted to go out on a date with her.
In May 2019, Diane confessed that she'd never wanted to be someone's wife. The star said she'd reflected on marriage, and at age 73, she was the only one in her generation, and maybe even before, who has been a single woman throughout her life.
The actress chose never to marry because of the relationship between her parents. However, that didn't stop her from having her children without a man in the picture.
The Reason Why Diane Never Started Her Own Family Goes Back to Her Childhood
Diane once explained that the reason why she chose not to marry went back to her mother, and almost everything in her life had something to do with her parent. The actress said she loved her father, but he was always out working while her mother was always around.

She acknowledged how her father worked hard and was an interesting man. The star commended her mother for the sacrifices she made, and as the oldest child of four, Diane noticed how her parent chose her family over her dreams.
The actress witnessed how much her mother had to give up and was propped up for being her father's wife. When the family moved to Santa Ana, her mother stopped trying things and chose her family.

Diane recalled how her mother was the best but believed she was the reason the actress never tied the knot. The star chose to follow her heart and created her own family on her terms by adopting two children on her own and was okay with that, once stating:
“I didn’t want to give up my independence. By the way, no one has ever asked me to marry them, either, so that might be a good answer. I should’ve started with that and called it a day.”

Despite her vulnerabilities and fears, the actress was in her 50s when she adopted her first child. Another reason why she never married was that she wanted to be in a good relationship first, with the actress explaining:
“Those good relationships that are strong and substantive never happened for me, and that prolonged my indecisiveness.”
Although Diane never got to walk down the aisle, she never lacked romances. Some of the men she dated in the past were iconic celebrities like Warren Beatty and Al Pacino.
The Famous Actors Diane Has Dated
Diane seemed to be a romantic woman, and she once dated Pacino. The two celebrities initially met in 1972's "The Godfather," and in 2013, the actress admitted that she was "really very taken" with Pacino from the start.

The duo only began a romantic relationship during the production of 1974's "The Godfather: Part II." However, they were uncommitted, and throughout the years, their relationship was on-and-off until after the 1990's "The Godfather: Part III."
Reports stated that their relationship concluded forever when Diane told Pacino that they either had to marry or break up; the actor chose the latter. The actress confessed how she'd worked hard on that relationship but hadn't handled it perfectly.

Diane then got into a relationship with Beatty in 1981 while making "Reds." In 2016. the actress said the first time she saw Beatty was in 1961's "Splendor in the Grass," and she thought he was to "die for!"
She described him as gorgeous, sexy, beautiful, mysterious, captivating, and an excellent film star. He was also an incredible director and producer and unique, but their romance was short-lived.

In the early 1970s, it was revealed that Diane got into a romance with Woody Allen. He even based the character of Annie Hall in the self-titled movie on Diane, whose real last name was Hall.
However, neither of the two stars [Diane Keaton and Keanu Reeves] ever officially confirmed or denied being in a relationship.
The actress described Allen as hilarious and revealed that she'd adored him. While the relationship never lasted forever, in 2017, Diane shared that she and Allen and his wife, Soon Yi, would have dinner together when she was in New York.

Another big star she was linked to was Keanu Reeves. The pair were speculated to have been in a relationship while starring as a couple in 2003's "Something's Gotta Give."
In 2005, it was rumored that "The Matrix" actor left Lynn Collins, his then-girlfriend, for Diane. The following year, the "First Wives Club" actress joked that she would marry Reeves because he liked older women.
However, neither of the two stars ever officially confirmed or denied being in a relationship. And ultimately, Diane dated several men, but none of them ever proposed marriage to her.
