Lori Butler Sacrificed Her Career for Her Son – Facts about Austin Butler's Mother

Lori Butler was a selfless and loving mother who did everything to ensure her son had a bright future. Thanks to her sacrifices, her son is now a celebrated Hollywood actor.

Lori was a loving mom who wanted her children to have a memorable childhood. Even though she didn't have enough money, she would occasionally take her kids to Disneyland just to make them happy. Lori was generous and caring; she sacrificed her own business to support her son's career.

Besides enrolling her son in acting classes, she also drove him to different auditions. Austin Butler's mother's sacrifices totally paid off, and her son said he owed her everything because she believed in him. Unfortunately, Lori didn't live to see most of her son's accomplishments as she succumbed to cancer.

Lori's Death Shook Her Son a Lot

Lori Butler was born on May 6, 1964, and her birth name was Lori Anne Howell. Based on IMDb, she was an aesthetician but later ran a daycare business at her home. Lori's children still remember some moments they shared, like watching the comedy show "Saturday Night Live" every week.

Also, her children still celebrate her birthdays. For instance, in 2020, Lori's daughter paid a sweet tribute to her on her 56th birthday. In an Instagram post, she stated:

"Mommy! We have now celebrated six of your birthdays without you. People say time heals all, but it hasn't gotten easier. I miss you just as much today as the day you left. I love you more than I can express with words."

During an interview, Austin revealed that he planned to tag his sister along at the Golden Globes 2023 red carpet event.

Austin Butler's mother died in September 2014 after a long battle with cancer. Her son announced her death in a since-deleted tweet and referred to her as his hero and best friend. In 2022, Lori's son, Austin Butler, starred in the musical/drama film "Elvis" alongside Tom Hanks and Olivia DeJonge.

Lori's son, who played the late Elvis Presley in the film, admitted it was easy for him to connect to the singer since they both lost their moms in their early twenties.

Speaking to Vogue in 2022, the actor revealed that after watching different documentaries about Presley, he discovered that the icon's mother died when he was 23, a similar situation to his. Lori's death devastated her son, making him question many things, including his acting career.

At some point, he thought of making a shift from his profession to helping cancer patients. In honor of his later mother, Lori's son got a small number 27 tattoo on his left wrist. He said it was his mother's lucky number, and whenever she saw it, she felt God was looking out for her.

Lori Went through a Divorce with Her Husband

Lori and her ex-husband David Butler lived in Anaheim, California, while raising their children. While Lori had her own daycare business, David was a commercial real estate appraiser.

Although they lived together for a few years, Austin Butler's parents divorced when he was seven—leaving Austin and his sister to operate between two homes.

Lori Had More than One Child

Lori had two children, her eldest daughter Ashley Butler and her son Austin. Lori's daughter was also devastated by her death. Ashley frequently pays sweet tributes to her late mother alongside their throwback photos, and it seems the pair had a close bond.

Even though she's gone, Lori's children have maintained a close bond and remained supportive of each other. During an interview, Austin revealed he planned to tag his sister along at the Golden Globes 2023 red carpet event.
