Sabrina Carpenter's Boyfriends: A Look Back on Her Rumored and Actual Relationships
Young actress Sabrina Carpenter's love life appears to be a very active one for outsiders looking in. Despite being 23 years old, her romantic relationships, most of them rumored, have constantly been in the media throughout the years since she stepped into the limelight.
Carpenter has already made appearances in 25 screen productions ranging from TV series to movies, having established herself through her performances on Disney Channel. Besides being a notable actress with a bright future in Hollywood, she also boasts a budding music career launched in 2014 and has songs featured on the Billboard charts.
As busy as her professional life looks, she has also had a hectic personal life if media reports about her potential love stories are anything to go by. She has been rumored to be in at least five relationships since her rise to stardom, but only one of those has ever been confirmed. Most times, she has resorted to keeping her personal life to herself.
Sabrina Carpenter Was Recently Linked to Dylan O'Brien
In September 2022, rumors began swirling that Carpenter was dating fellow actor and "Teen Wolf" hunk Dylan O'Brien. The speculation was fueled by photos of the two enjoying one-on-one time together.
The pictures, submitted to famous Instagram blogger DeuxMoi, were taken by a fan who had allegedly spotted them in a New York street and were seen again getting cozy in a local bar. It's safe to say that several fans seemed elated by the development and voiced their support and approval.
A discussion soon arose surrounding the probability of a relationship between the two famous artists. Fans active on multiple media platforms, including Reddit, were caught up in the storm. While some focused on the validity of the rumors, there were differences in views about their age difference.
A section of the fans online was not convinced that the age difference of 8 years between the stars was okay. One user wrote, "Isn't she a little young for him?" In line with that view, another user Tweeted their opinion saying, "If Dylan O'Brien and Sabrina carpenter are confirmed as a couple, I think ill actually die on impact."
The other section made the point that they were all adults; hence, what matters the most is that they both are old enough to give consent. @strachelp on Twitter gave their approval to the relationship, proclaiming, "if they're together, Dylan O'Brien and Sabrina carpenter is the cutest, hottest best couple that ever existed."
23-year-old Carpenter and 31-year-old O'Brien never confirmed the relationship, nor have there been reports of them speaking about it. That is something fans have come to expect when it comes to Carpenter's relationships and her relationship status. However, some fans think it did happen and cannot be convinced otherwise. One fan noted:
"I’m here to engage in celebrity gossip that i have no real belief or stakes in: i believe the sabrina carpenter x dylan o’brien dating rumors … like i think it was brief and casual but it happened!"
O'Brien is famous for his role in MTV's "Teen Wolf" series. He has since gained significant popularity and appeared in some big-name movies, including "Bumblebee" and "The Maze Runner."
Sabrina Carpenter and Jordan Fisher's On-Screen Chemistry Left Fans Hoping for Their Real-Life Romance
There have been many cases where actors' on-screen romantic chemistry has impressed fans so much that they begin to wonder what might be if the romance was also there in real life. That was the case when Carpenter and Jordan Fisher appeared in "Work It."
The Netflix-produced film follows the story of Carpenter's character, Quinn Ackerman, an intelligent but clumsy high school learner whose desire to get admission into her dream college leads her to form a dance team. Many fans voiced their appreciation for their chemistry, with one fan noting:
"[H]onestly never seen a couple dancing together with more chemistry than sabrina carpenter and jordan fisher in work it (2020). [T]hat includes julia stiles and sean patrick thomas in save the last dance (2001)."
Another social media user, Karthick, added to the discussion and was in agreement with the widespread view that their understanding of each other in conversation and dance moves was top-notch. They wrote, "[S]abrina carpenter and [J]ordan [F]isher's chemistry was so amazing in this movie!!!"
Nevertheless, rumors about any potential love story brewing in real-life were quickly buried as Fisher was already married. He is happily married to Ellie Woods, his childhood sweetheart, and the pair recently welcomed their first child. Still, someone noted, "I mean, I know they're not, but Sabrina Carpenter and Jordan Fisher are cute together. I'm just saying."
Sabrina Was Reportedly in a Love Triangle with Olivia Rodrigo and Joshua Bassett
Arguably, Carpenter's rumored relationship that drew the most noise was her alleged love triangle, including fellow artists Olivia Rodrigo and Joshua Bassett. The drama-filled story began sometime in 2019, with Bassett and Rodrigo reportedly dating after co-starring in "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series."
About a year later, Bassett was linked to Carpenter. This was when many still thought he was dating Rodrigo; hence, fans believed Bassett had left Rodrigo for Carpenter. Fuel was added to the fire when the trio began releasing a series of songs that were seemingly directed at each other.
For example, in January 2021, Rodrigo released the song "Driver's Licence," in which she seemed to reference Carpenter as the "blonde girl." Carpenter's alleged clap back was released two weeks later with the lyrics "Maybe you didn't mean it/Maybe blonde was the only rhyme." She added, "Don't drive yourself insane."
After that, a few more songs were released as potential accusations and disses went back and forth. Still, none of them ever admitted that any of the songs were aimed at anyone. Interestingly, by the end of all the drama, they all seemed to be single, with the center of the triangle, Bassett, having come out as part of the LGBTQ community.
In addition, Rodrigo claimed not to know Carpenter, which means she could not have written a song about her. She said they had met once or twice in passing but had never had a conversation. Importantly, none of the rumored romantic relationships in the triangle were ever confirmed by any of the three.
Sabrina Carpenter's Only Public Relationship Was Her Sweet Romance with Bradley Steven Perry
Longtime fans of Carpenter may be aware that the young actress has only ever made one relationship public: with Steven Bradley Perry. Carpenter and Perry are Disney alum, having worked for the network in their teenage years. Perry was one of the central figures in the sitcom "Good Luck Charlie."
According to E! News, the young couple was together for around three months in 2015. Perry is said to have shot his shot at Carpenter by sending her a love message in a bottle, a gesture that Carpenter enjoyed, saying:
"No, it wasn't like first grader status, It was very sweet. I think he knew I was going to say yes anyways."
Other people Carpenter has reportedly dated include Griffin Gluck, whom she starred alongside in the film, "Tall Girl." Rumors sparked after the pair posted sweet pictures together and were photographed wearing matching Halloween costumes. However, none of them ever mentioned that they were in a relationship.
Bradley Simpson and Corey Fogelmanis have also been linked to Carpenter at some stage, but as with many of her rumored romantic links, Carpenter has remained quiet about them. She is still in her early 20s; at this rate, speculation about her love life will only grow.
