Graham rose to prominence after landing the role of Dougal Mackenzie in the popular TV series "Outlander." His acting credits also include playing Ser Harrold Westerling on "House of the Dragon" and Dijkstra on "The Witcher."

His success in Hollywood came after he and Gwen moved to US soil. While he has made a career in front of the camera, she has made one from behind it. Having two parents in the film industry rubbed off on their eldest daughter, who has already shown an interest in acting.

"I studied film at AUT and went to London, where I met my husband, Graham McTavish," Gwen said. Gwen was born in England, but her mother relocated to New Zealand, where she raised her daughter. Gwen shared:

"I was born in London and grew up in the Bay of Islands. Mum's an artist, and there's a big single-parent artist community there. Seeing the 'Seven Up' documentary series on TV was my lightbulb moment."

After obtaining her Bachelor of Communications and Television Documentary from Auckland University of Technology, Gwent spent over ten years gaining experience in the film industry.

She went from a producer to a director and has been a lecturer at Massey University in New Zealand for five years. "I lecture in screen production, mainly factual, and specialize in equipping students with the skillsets they need for creative leadership," her LinkedIn profile reads in part.

While her husband's career was on the rise, Gwen was making waves in her respective field as well. A specialist in observational and social history documentaries, Gwen spent thirteen years making reality TV in England and America.

She was the head of teams for indie production houses in both countries and had one of her documentaries achieve critical acclaim from London's Evening Standard, the Guardian, and the Times newspapers.

After spending four years on one of her projects and accumulating 120 hours of footage, Gwen's documentary about terminal illness, "Where There is Life," premiered at the New Zealand International Film Festival in 2017.

According to her website, the documentary received great praise, and the New Zealand International Film Festival panel acclaimed, "Isaac's film is startling in its candor." While speaking about "Where There is Life," Gwen said:

"...we show the light with the dark. I call it 'the ultimate grown-up love story' because there was so much love in that room...I had a man in gumboots and stubbies come up to me and say, 'I'm a cynical man, but your film moved me.'"

Graham and Gwen went their separate ways sometime in 2020. And while the state of Gwen's love life is unclear, her former partner entered a new relationship with Garance Doré, a French blogger credited for making street fashion mainstream.

Garance's relationship with Graham began in 2020 before Covid-19 hit.

Garance began her career as a fashion illustrator before she created a blog in 2006. Her popularity saw a rise when she joined forces with photographer and longtime partner Scott Schuman, and the pair quickly became regulars in the front row of fashion shows.

However, Garance recalled being a Zara-wearing nobody— the more fun times, she said— who had to sneak into shows. "Oh, I didn't belong at all. I was wearing things from Zara. I didn't have the right clothes. But it was fun when no one knew me," she revealed.

She was in her 30s when she relocated to New York and made streetwear trendy and cool. She established herself as one of the most influential women in fashion, featuring on "Women of the Decade" lists alongside Angelina Jolie and Lady Gaga. Garance said:

"People were curious about who I was and what I was doing and respectful of the new ground I was breaking with bringing fashion online. In Paris, people were [critical] that what I was doing was not chic, whereas my goal was to make it chic."

Garance's relationship with Graham began in 2020 before Covid-19 hit. Once it reached American shores, the couple decided to move in together before the first lockdown.

Graham McTavish Has Two Young Daughters, and One Follows in Her Father's Footsteps

During their marriage, Gwen and Graham welcomed two daughters, Honor and Hope. In 2012, their eldest daughter soon followed in her father's footsteps and showed an interest in acting.

She landed her first acting credit when she played Cute Young Hobbit in "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey." And although he wanted to support his daughter as his parents supported him, there was a part of Graham that was "filled with dread." He said:

"...acting, for instance... my eldest daughter, who seems to have an interest in that kind of thing, you know, there's a part of me that's just filled with dread. I just want to say, 'Don't do it.'"

In 2018, an artist by the name of Loverdove Design created a special whiskey bottle for Graham that was named after his daughters. The design was played on a bottle of 18-year-old Talisker and featured a lion—which represented Graham—and Hope and Honor's names.
