Candice Bergen, star of Murphy Brown, has had a remarkable career in Hollywood, but now she is a doting grandmother. While her fans are not charmed by her appearance, she has made it clear that she doesn't care.
She has said she is comfortable in her own skin and is focused solely on being a wonderful grandmother to her grandchildren and becoming happier and happier with her life as she grows older.
Before her career slowed down, she was known for modeling in Vogue, earning Oscar nominations, and winning many other awards throughout the years. However, she now says her life revolves around food.
Bergen Doesn't Care About Being "Old" and "Fat" Grandma
Bergen has gained over 30 pounds in the last 15 years but has no problem with that fact. She said she knew she was fat, but she lived to eat and thoroughly enjoyed her food. She joked:
"I am fat. I live to eat. None of this 'eat to live' stuff for me. I am a champion eater. No carb is safe — no fat, either."
Although she is a former model, she has made jokes about eating disorders over the years and said that models keep their figures in unhealthy ways. She admitted she was incapable of doing the same thing.
She also mentioned that women were afraid of getting older because of how society views women that have gotten older and gained weight; however, she believes getting older is a privilege.
Bergen also talked about the first great love of her life, Louis Malle. She mentioned they were madly in love, but distance separated them. She also admitted there was an imbalance of power.
Malle passed away from cancer in 1995, and she remarried in 2000. Marshall Rose, a real estate developer, was her second husband. She returned to acting after she remarried and had a short stint of her career once again. Her last acting credit was in "As They Made Us" in 2022.
Bergen is A Funny Grandma and Poses with her Grandson in Matching Tops
Bergen is now a doting grandmother and often shares about her grandchildren on social media. Her recent post was of her running after her grandson, who had a fake mustache on. She mentioned the little man was two and a half years old.
The pair were in matching tops, and the comments on the post were all positive and loving. Some said how cute her grandson was and how beautiful they were when they were so little and learning about the world.
She has mentioned that her most important relationship is with her daughter. Talking about it, she said the birth of her daughter was the greatest thing that had ever happened to her, and they have a wonderful relationship.
Bergen also talked about her then-six-month-old grandson, saying that he was a “dumpling” and then said:
“He’s just the best arrival of joy in one’s life. I’m crying. I’m just looking forward to the future with Artie.”
She then asked her daughter if she could build a barn where she would be able to spend time with her grandchildren. She said that would be all she needed and where she planned on retiring.
Bergen is proud of her grandchildren and has shared many photos of them on social media. She even took a family member to Golden Globe Awards. She called her companion a “hot date.”
Talking about becoming a grandmother in 2020, Bergen teared up. She spoke to Sharon Osbourne, who said that becoming a grandmother in 2020 was one thing that could make that year better.
While Osbourne was saying that, Bergen teared up and then said that it made her cry to think about becoming a grandmother during that year. The former model then laughed at herself and said her grandchild was “great.”
Through her tears, she said that his name was Arthur, and he was the best grandchild, and her daughter was a wonderful mother to the little boy. We wish Bergen and her family nothing but the best.
