Paula Abdul's Sister Wendy Is a Breast Cancer Survivor
Using her contacts, Paula got her sister an appointment with the head of oncology within 24 hours of Wendy sharing unease about her health in 2000. The prognosis was not good, breast cancer, but the "Forever Your Girl" singer was there to support her.
Wendy underwent surgery days after the diagnosis and is alive and cancer-free today. A fan left a touching testimonial about the cancer survivor in the comment section of the singer's National Siblings Day 2019 post with a touching caption that read:
"My sister, Wendy, means so much to me! 🙏🏼♥️ I am always so inspired by her heart, and I’m eternally grateful to have her by my side through everything! "
A fan who previously met Wendy chimed in on the comment section, "Wendy was our nurse at El Rodeo!!! Sending so much love." There has yet to be a response from the singer or confirmation elsewhere if Wendy worked in this capacity.

Paula believes that dance is healing, making it critical to keep the art form alive. During her sister's recovery, she popped in the patient's favorite songs from Stevie Wonder and Earth, Wind, and Fire and start dancing. She said:
"Even when she was violently ill, we kept playing the music, and we kept dancing and smiling and laughing, and I gotta tell you that was one major focal point that kept her going."

Wendy Abdul Gets Lots of Love from Her Famous Sister As She Keeps a Low Profile
With all the residual love from her sister's fandom, Wendy does not need a presence on social media. Paula asked on Facebook in 2018 if her followers have a sister who they adore:
"Shout out to my beautiful sister Wendy on National Sisters Day! I'm always in awe of her smile, her strength & her heart! Her open, welcoming, loving HEART! She is one of the most magnificent humans walking this earth."
Wendy routinely gets birthday messages from the "Straight Up" star's fans. Paula tweeted on March 30, 2011, "You guys are so sweet for sending my sister Wendy all the birthday wishes!" She confirmed that they were having a good time.
When Paula runs out of adjectives to express her blind adoration for her older sibling, she borrows words from famous authors. In August 2018, she looked at writer Barbara Alpert's writing on sisters.
The children's book author described sisters as a witness who loves unconditionally despite having seen the worst, "She is your teacher, your defense attorney, your personal press agent, even your shrink."
In April 2019, Paula cited Carol Ann Albright Eastman's famous quote about the purity of sisters and brothers. The "Always There" author maintains that one's siblings know when to hold you and when to challenge you.
Through Paula Abdul's regular postings about siblings, she encourages a dialogue with her followers and promotes the importance of appreciating family.
