Despite Mirren and Hackford's 26-year marriage, the actress recently revealed that she still loves her ex-boyfriend, famous actor Liam Neeson. The renowned actress opened up about her past relationship in an interview, saying they were fond of each other. Mirren's words rang:

Like Mirren, Neeson was in a long, committed, and loving relationship. The "Taken" star met his previous wife, Natasha Richardson, in 1993. The two were working together on a Broadway show when they first fell in love. However, they had a rocky start, since Richardson was married when they first met.

They hit it off on set, and Mirren encouraged him to move to London, where he could further his career.

Unfortunately, Richardson's marriage fell apart, and Neeson was at the center of the situation. Nevertheless, Neeson and Richardson tied the knot in 1994. They also had two sons, Micheál Richardson and Daniel Neeson. Sadly, Richardson passed away after suffering a head injury in a skiing accident.

Although it took Neeson a long time to recover from losing his wife, the actor recently opened up about his relationship with Mirren after he heard her comment on their time together. The actor laughed nostalgically and called her a "remarkable woman."

Back then, he was still trying to make a name for himself. Neeson recalled the first time he laid eyes on the already famous Mirren, and he recounted:

"It was mesmeric. She was so sexy. I thought, Gosh, that's Helen Mirren! She was as beautiful up close as on stage. Just so human. I was in love with this extraordinary human being."

They hit it off on set, and Mirren encouraged him to move to London, where he could further his career. He made the leap, moving in with the acclaimed actress. During that time, however, he struggled to find a role while Mirren had offers piling up in her postbox. For the young Neeson, it was embarrassing.

Nonetheless, the two had a fantastic time together. Mirren recalled a time when she and Neeson went camping together. She remembered how they went out in a small car and slept in a little tent, and it rained the whole time. Despite the rain, she admitted that she adores camping to this day.

Neeson insists that he knew Mirren was older than him when they dated, but he "never did know" how much older. Coincidentally, she was also more successful than he was while they were together, which put a slight strain on the relationship.

Although Mirren was always supportive, she admitted that Neeson needed to go out on his own and find his feet as an actor. So, they decided to break things off, and Neeson went on his way. The breakup was, however, excruciating for both of them.
