Paula Harwood has been surrounded by unique talent all her life. Though some of those talents are no more, her children are carrying the baton thanks to the foundation set by her famous husband.

Paula Harwood is a 67-year-old interior designer who has a brief history with filmmaking. She is a Tufts University alum, just like her husband, Peter Gallagher, with whom she shares two children.

Paula's husband is a famed actor with a highly decorated catalog of movies and TV series roles. They have been married since the 80s, and judging by her husband's words on "The Kelly Clarkson Show," divorce is not an option in their lives.

Paula Comes from a Famous Family

Paula's mother, Paulette Harwood, was a ballet dancer who founded and directed Paulette's Ballet Studio for 58 years. She has danced professionally at Billy Roses Diamond Horseshoe and Radio City Hall, among many other well-known venues. On August 23, 2019, Paulette's life ended peacefully, and her funeral followed on the 29th.

Before Paula's mother passed, her son James Gallagher, aware that the day would soon be coming, began filming her dance classes. He intended to capture his grandmother in her element before it all ended. However, a few days of taping became a project produced over months, and Paula promoted it on her now-private Instagram.

They arrived at the finished product "Paulette," James describes it as a touching and refreshing watch. Paula's son is also finding his feet as a filmmaker and admittedly learned quite a bit from videotaping his grandmother. He has also directed another short titled "Love," starring Eva Amurri's mother, Susan Sarandon.

"Love" unpacks the relationships between fathers and sons, with Tennis as a critical part of the conversation. James has also worked with "Seinfeld" star Wayne Knight on the TV series "New Partner." Their son James has a sister named Kathryn Gallagher.

On one occasion, Peter's parents became so enraged that one of them tossed their brand-new television set during an altercation.

In December 2019, Kathryn took to Instagram to show a public token of appreciation for her parents, saying that they were the ones that kept her modest. While entertainers surround Paula, it is vital to note that she also had a stint in Hollywood as a producer but opted for a career as an interior designer.

Paula and Peter Have Been Together for Almost 4 Decades Already

Paula's movie star husband spoke to Kelly Clarkson about their first meeting. The actor said he met his wife during his first week in college when they crossed paths on a stairwell. He recalled not sharing any words with Paula, who was in the company of another guy.

The actor does not remember much after their first encounter but has the image of what she looked like etched into his memory. He attributed his inability to approach Paula to a lack of self-confidence. However, he did not need to say anything as they both felt an energy that later brought them closer.

Paula and her husband will celebrate their 40th year of marriage this May. Roughly four years ago, "The O.C." star shared a tribute to his wife on Instagram, noting that their lengthy commitment is somewhat embarrassing in show business. He added that asking her out on a date after seven years of knowing her was the best thing he ever did.

Paula's husband once mentioned that his late parents had a tumultuous relationship, and he witnessed them constantly fighting. On one occasion, Peter's parents became so enraged that one of them tossed their brand-new television set during an altercation.

As a child, he wanted to see their relationship end, but the actor began to see their union differently as an adult. He took heed of their commitment to each other in the name of finding grace and adopted and applied those principles in his relationship with his soon-to-be wife of forty years.

During his Interview with recently-divorced Kelly Clarkson, Paula's husband noted: "Well, we just drive each other nuts and don't get divorced."

Paula Raised a Daughter Who Followed in Her Father's Footsteps

Paula and her spouse have welcomed two children, who are a fair depiction of their grooming and mentoring—particularly that of Paula's husband. James's birth in 1990 marked Paula and Peter's introduction to parenthood. In addition to his behind-the-scenes credits, Peter landed a small role in Adam Sandler's movie "Jack And Jill."

Paula then welcomed Kathryn on July 23, 1993, and she has also taken up a career in entertainment. She is a singer and actress who has appeared in eight episodes of "You," starring Domino Kirke's husband, Penn Badgley. She also has a soundtrack credit on the 2012 film "Thanks for Sharing."

Kathryn alluded that her mother's playlists were her earliest musical inspirations. Her mother, a big fan of Alanis Morissette, would often play "Jagged Little Pill" in the car. Roughly five years old at the time, Kathryn's go-to request off the album was "One Hand in my Pocket."
