Lily Aster Gottfried Is the Daughter of One of the Most Controversial Comedians

Lily's dad has long been considered one of the most controversial comedians. Famous for his squinty-eyed delivery and raspy voice, he was a man who flinched from nothing and even made jokes about 9/11, which many felt was too soon after the tragedy. He said:

"When I do a joke about September 11 or the Japanese tsunami, what's funny is that it shocks the audience. They are responding to the fact that it’s tragic, and you’re acknowledging it."

After his death, his wife Dara appealed to friends and fans to keep laughing and remembering the comedian with joy because that would be the greatest tribute they could pay him.

Her mom and dad kept their family out of the limelight as much as possible. Still, Lily does have an Instagram account, even though she rarely posts on it, but is very active on TikTok with over 19,000 followers and over a million likes. Her father proudly declared:

“My daughter, she’s on TikTok. So, she got me on TikTok, I have no idea what it is. I’m like talking to somebody’s grandmother about TikTok. And she’ll say, ‘I want you to do this little dance step,’ which, of course, I can never do.”

Gilbert credited his daughter with inspiring his skit on "TBS' Tournament of Laughs," in which he played a whacky dental patient and Lily and Max played the dentist and the assistant.
