Carrie Underwood is a successful singer-songwriter who has always been faithful to her principles. One of these was to save herself until marriage. Three years after making the vow, she married Mike Fisher at age 27. They have been through hell and high water but now live in marital bliss with their two children.

Faith has always been a big part of Carrie Underwood's life since she grew up in a conservative Christian household. Her family members were devout Christians who went to church not just to learn more about God and pray but also to have a sense of community.

Underwood's upbringing and beliefs significantly influenced many of her life choices, including saving herself for marriage.

In 2007, the "Jesus Take the Wheel" singer revealed she planned to remain chaste and abstain from sexual intercourse until her wedding night. Fortunately, it only took a few years before she tied the knot with Mike Fisher.

Admittedly, Underwood could have been better around guys and found difficulty finding a partner after her relationship with her college sweetheart, Drake Clark.

It wasn't until three months later that they physically reconnected. The pair had their first date on New Year's Eve 2008, the same day they shared their first kiss.

She did, however, date a few men while building her career, including Tony Romo and Chace Crawford, but nothing came close to the love she experienced with Fisher.

Underwood and Fisher met through a blind date set by the singer's bassist, Mark Childers. At that time, Fisher played in the National Hockey League in Canada while Underwood resided in Tennessee. Their ultimate fate, should the blind date work, was to have a long-distance relationship.

While the singer was initially skeptical about the setup, she couldn't deny the chemistry they had after meeting backstage during one of her shows. Although miles apart, they remained close at heart through regular phone calls and messages.

Fisher was furthering his NHL career in Canada, growing into a big star in the ports industry, while Underwood was touring the world and creating new music.

It wasn't until three months later that they physically reconnected. The pair had their first date on New Year's Eve 2008, the same day they shared their first kiss. "Our first kiss was when the ball dropped," Underwood revealed, as told by Taste of Country. "We were in front of people, and he's not a big PDA guy."

Being apart was no easy feat, but as public figures, both knew their responsibilities in their respective careers and the sacrifices they needed to make to succeed. Like Underwood, Fisher was also independent and found comfort in being alone. She said:

"We can go weeks without seeing each other. He's the only guy I've never had to worry about. Any guy I've ever dated, there would always be that doubt [...]."

Fisher never gave her reason to doubt him, and with their trust in each other, their relationship succeeded long distance.

Besides their common traits, Underwood and Fisher share the same faith. Like her, he also grew up in a Christian household before fame. At six years old, Fisher wanted to pray on his own, and by 17, he left home to join the Ontario Hockey League. However, his faith suffered as he detached from his comfort zone.

As Fisher had his first taste of success, his internal struggles heightened. He turned a blind eye to religion and made rash decisions. "Through a process of just praying and getting in the word with my cousin, my life was changed," he said.

The couple connected spiritually and understood the importance of religion in their relationship, which is now a big part of their marriage.

Some of the things they did together include reading the Bible, discussing their devotionals, and reflecting on the implication of God's word in their lives. "Our spiritual bond is something we try to put first in our lives," Underwood said.

Their strong faith also allowed them to get through the challenges they faced as parents, including experiencing several miscarriages in 2017 and 2018. Now, they hope to pass on the same faith to their kids.

Carrie Underwood Suffered Three Miscarriages and Turned to God for Help and Guidance

On December 20, 2009, Fisher asked Underwood to spend the rest of her life with him as husband and wife. The couple did not shy away from telling their family and friends about the engagement but kept a low profile until the year after.

The pair tied the knot on July 10, 2010, during a beautiful wedding ceremony at the Ritz-Carlton resort in Georgia. The beautiful bride looked stunning in a white Monique Lhuillier gown while wearing Fisher's wedding gift, a diamond tiara.

The ceremony seated 250 guests, who witnessed the couple's wedding vows and their favorite scriptures. Underwood's mom could not help but be emotional during the event, saying:

"I was sad because she's my baby. But I always said a prayer she'd find the right person, and I know she did."

After they became husband and wife, Fisher moved into Underwood's Nashville mansion, where they lived for nearly a decade. In 2019, the couple moved into an even bigger home outside Nashville.

They tried again and got pregnant in the same year but, unfortunately, suffered the same fate. When it happened for the third time in 2018, Underwood grew tired.

On February 27, 2015, the couple became proud parents to their first child, Isaiah Michael Fisher. During an interview about a game, the doting dad shared his excitement with the media. Fisher said:

"There's nothing better than being a dad. Obviously, the important thing is everyone is feeling good, and mom's feeling good. [...] It's easier to put a smile on your face when you mention him after a bad game."

The new mom wasted no time introducing her son to the world and posted an adorable photo of Isaiah's tiny hand and foot on social media. She showed her gratitude to the Lord in the post for gifting them a fantastic child.

Underwood and Fisher tried expanding their family in the following years, but unfortunately, she suffered three miscarriages. The first time the "Before He Cheats" songstress experienced a miscarriage in 2017, she believed that things would fall into place in God's perfect timing.

They tried again and got pregnant in the same year but, unfortunately, suffered the same fate. When it happened for the third time in 2018, Underwood grew tired. Still, she was grateful for all her blessings, especially Isaiah.

"If we can never have any other kids, that's okay because he's amazing," she said. "I have this amazing life. Like, really, what can I complain about?"

By the fourth time Underwood got pregnant, she felt all the emotions and let it all out through prayer. She thought she would experience another miscarriage and spent the evening cuddling with her son while her husband was away.

While frustrated and sobbing, she asked the Lord why she kept getting pregnant if she would lose the baby anyway. "Either shut the door or let me have a kid," she said. "You pray, and you pray, and you pray. Why is this happening?" she added.

Isaiah and Jacob grew up in a Brentwood, Nashville, home with four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and two half-bathrooms for most of their lives. Their residence, until 2019, had a fitness center, wet bar, and tennis court.

Fisher also felt the same frustration for many months, but he knew God would bless them with a child named Jacob even after suffering several losses. Fortunately, the couple's child held on to life. At that moment, Underwood felt like God heard her prayers.

Interestingly, Underwood never saw herself tying the knot or becoming a mother during her younger years. She was independent and happy living a single life and was never good with kids. However, life had different plans for her. The second she met her child, she immediately fell in love and enjoyed motherhood.

The couple's second son, Jacob Bryan Fisher, was born in January 2019, making his parents the happiest people on earth. Underwood later shared photos of their family at the hospital, including when Isaiah met his baby brother.

Becoming a mom has undoubtedly changed Underwood's life and dynamics at home. However, she happily embraced motherhood. Admittedly, having children changed her marriage, but she and Fisher always try to make time for their relationship still.

Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher Are Blessed with Two Wonderful Children

Underwood and Fisher are now proud parents to two boys. Isaiah and Jacob grew up in a Brentwood, Nashville, home with four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and two half-bathrooms for most of their lives. Their residence, until 2019, had a fitness center, wet bar, and tennis court.

They eventually sold the house for $1,410,000 and moved into their forever home, which they designed to have a "wood-burning fireplace, a porch swing, and rocking chairs.

The home's living room has muted neutral colors and wood accents. It also features a massive cream couch, often appearing in the singer's social media photos. As a big antique trunks collector, their home likely features some as furniture.

The pair usually greets their children with hugs and kisses in the morning as a downtime before the day begins. They also try to have meals together and start meaningful conversations with their children.

Their home has more than enough space for Isaiah and Jacob to run around and play. They also have a barn, a lake, a big garden, and horses for the boys to appreciate animals and nature. The decision to sell their previous luxury home came with wanting to live a quiet and more peaceful life on a farm.

Underwood and Fisher are also raising their children to have strong faiths. The couple already planned how to introduce religion to Isaiah and prayed that both kids grow up with kind hearts. Underwood said:

"Mike and I talk about teaching him how to approach everybody in a loving way, even if they're not the same, and try to say, 'You know what? God loves them, so it should be my job to do my best to love them as well.'"

Isaiah was already aware of his faith at a young age and sometimes talked to his parents about loving God. His parents couldn't be any more proud of him and happy for him.

Besides their kids, Underwood and Fisher and nurturing their relationship every day. According to the artist, she feels her husband is the man with whom she is meant to spend the rest of her life. They work on their marriage by listening to and understanding each other.

Still, at the very core of their lives remains God. Underwood always begins her day praying and influencing her family to do the same.

In fact, in 2020, the athlete gifted his wife two cows for Christmas at her request. However, Underwood's weakness is getting presents for her husband. Nevertheless, she loves celebrating the holiday with her family.

The pair also enjoys date nights without the kids. Some of their special evenings, including red-carpet events, were documented and shared on Instagram for fans.

They also have dates for dining out or having activities together, such as shooting outdoors. Fisher referred to his wife as his better half in one of his posts as they dined out.

Still, at the very core of their lives remains God. Underwood always begins her day praying and influencing her family to do the same. Despite the challenges she faced as a mother and as a woman, her faith kept her going, and fortunately, everything turned out well for her in the end.
