Pasionaye Nguyen Was a Single Mother – Facts about Tyga's Parents
Tyga's parents have played significant roles in his life. The rapper shares a close relationship with his mother, Pasionaye Nguyen, who raised him in a single-parent household. And although he's never met his father, Tyga revealed that his absence motivated the rapper to be a better dad to his son.
Originally from the valley, Tyga made a name for himself in the rap world following the release of his hit song "Rack City" and his high-profile relationships. Although he has not often spoken about his parents in interviews, the rapper and father shared that while he is very close with his mom, he's never met his father, nor did he want to.
One place Tyga did speak candidly about his lack of a father figure was in his music, where he revealed what it was like to have dinner with just his mother following his father's arrest and life sentence.
Tyga Said His Parents Drove a Range Rover
According to Tyga, he did not have a difficult life growing up. "Grew up not too tough. Parents got a Range Rover," he said. And the reason behind his easy childhood was that Pasionaye never let her son know about the hardships she faced. Tyga said:
"When I was growing up, I didn't know about the problems my mom had. She always made sure that I was good, I was happy."

After raising Tyga without the help of his father, Pasionaye's son showed his appreciation for his mother when he celebrated her on special occasions on social media.
In 2014, Pasionaye's son shared a picture of them on Facebook in honor of Mother's day and wrote, "Happy Mother's Day To the women that always made sure I had food on the table and a roof over my head! #SingleParent. You raised a strong black King! Love You!"
Pasionaye also received a shoutout on Mother's Day in 2015 when her son shared a throwback of the mother and son side by side with a more recent picture of them. Pasionaye's son captioned the post, "Hope my twin had an amazing Mother's Day. Blessed to have you in my life."
Her son celebrated her on Mother's day again in 2016 with the message, "Happy Mother's Day, Mom, and to other the other moms out there."
Pasionaye, of Vietnamese origin, has not often appeared in public with her famous son; however, in 2014, she participated in the humorous segment on "Words From Your Mother" on "Jimmy Kimmel Live."
In the segment, Pasionaye had to read the lyrics of her son's hit son "Rack City," which starred his ex-girlfriend and former friend of the Kardashian family, Blac Chyna.
Although the former couple share a son, they went their separate ways, and Pasionaye's son entered his highly publicized relationship with Kylie Jenner. And according to Pasionaye's mother, Kim, it was for the best. She said:
"We all love Kylie and think she is so much better for Tyga than Blac... Blac just wasn't a very nice person, and Kylie comes from a much better family. She is such a sweet, lovely girl and seems to adore Tyga. So we didn't mind him splitting up from Blac. It was a relief for us all."
During her relationship with Pasionaye's son, Kylie was spotted with Pasionaye and her mother at a party. As Pasionaye and her mother sat on either side of the rapper, Kylie sat in his lap as they all posed for the camera.
Tyga's Father Has Lost Contact With Most of His Children
Pasionaye's son is one of five children her former partner, Stevie J. Stevenson, fathered. According to Tyga, he had never met his father in person. The rapper revealed that there was a time not knowing his father had impacted him and that they were once introduced over the phone.
"I haven't built enough courage yet to see him in person," Pasionaye's son said. After meeting over the phone, Tyga shared that he no longer wanted to meet his father and understand why he was not in his son's life.
After he was charged with aggravated kidnapping, Stevie was sentenced to life in prison without parole and lost contact with most of his children. Although his son says his father was never in his life, according to Stevie, he was around when Tyga was a toddler.
Stevie welcomed Tyga and his four siblings in the same year with different women, and he shared that he was grateful to all the mothers of his children for never speaking ill of him to his kids. While serving his sentence, Stevie learned that his son had become a successful rapper with chart-topping albums.
In 2016, Stevie's son took to Twitter and shared that 2pac was his father figure growing up. He also revealed that Stevie had sent him a letter and the rapper shared his response as well.
Tyga Mentioned His Parents in His Songs
On his 2013 album "Hotel California," Stevie's son dedicated a track to him titled "Dad's Letter," where he raps about how hard it was to grow up without his father. "Growin' up all I wanted was a father figure / Me and mom alone every dinner / One day I hope you hear this, I pray you doin' better / This what it sound like if I sent my dad letters," the lyrics read.
Pasionaye's son also spoke about her in his music and included a voicemail she had left on his phone on one of his songs. "Just wanted to call to let you know how proud I am of you, sweetie," she can be heard saying.
