Pedro Pascal Attended Oscars 2023 with Sister Javiera Balmaceda as Her Brotherly Support
Pedro Pascal's sister, Javiera Balmaceda, is part of the team behind the Oscar-nominated film "Argentina 1985." She is the head of local originals for Latin America at Amazon Studios and played a part in their first-ever Argentinean film.
Pedro Pascal and his sister Javiera Balmaceda were suited up for the Oscars on Sunday. This time Pascal was a proud brother of his older sister, who was not just his plus one but also played her part in bringing the nominated film to life.
The Chilean-American actor shared pictures of himself and Balmaceda on Instagram at the prestigious event. If the tags on his post are anything to go by, Balmaceda had her hair done by Northern Georgia hairstylist Courtney "Coco" Ullrich-Mooney.
Pascal's business at the Oscars was to present, along with Elizabeth Olsen, the Best Animated Short and Best Documentary Short awards. Balmaceda was part of the team that made Amazon Studios' "Argentina 1985." "The Elephant Whisperers" clinched the documentary short award, and "Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio" won the animated category.
"Argentina 1985," directed by Santiago Mitre, was made collaboratively by Kenya Films, La Union de los Rios, Amazon Studios, and Infinity Hill. This was the first of Amazon Studios Argentinian films aired on October 21, 2022.

Balmaceda is the head of local originals for Latin America at Amazon Studios. She said about her appointment on the project, "It's exciting to be part of such an ambitious project that will take audiences on a journey through a pivotal point in Argentina's history."
Javiera Balmaceda Calls 'Argentina, 1985' as 'One of the Most Compelling and Well-Produced of Films'
"Argentina 1985" is a movie inspired by the story of Lawyer Julio Strassera and prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo and their subsequent team of lawyers vying to prosecute the deadly dictatorship of the time. The task of overthrowing the dictatorship was filled with bloodshed and carried out by an inexperienced group of lawyers.
The film's stars include Ricardo Darin, Gina Mastronicola, and Francisco Bertin. The film's producers have commented on working with the executive producer saying, "We're excited to support Santiago Mitre's unique perspective in this real-life emotional thriller which reflects a trial that changed justice."
Balmaceda also commented on being part of the project. She said it was exciting to be part of the "ambitious project" that intends to take audiences on a journey through the incidents of an instrumental moment in Argentina's history. She assured that the cast would present "one of the most compelling and well-produced of films," which would have viewers talking.

Pascal has two other siblings besides Balmaceda. His sister is the oldest of the four siblings, and he is the second oldest. They were both born in Santiago, Chile.
Their parents then welcomed the actor's younger brothers, Lux and Nicolás. The latter has chosen a vastly different profession as a pediatric neurologist. Lux, the only other sibling that's an actor, came out as a transgender woman and got the support of her older actor brother in February 2021 via an Instagram post.
