Goldie Hawn & Kurt Russell Build Love Nest from Scratch & Enjoy Cooking, Cleaning after Reportedly Nearly Splitting
"Lovers and Liars" actress Goldie Hawn and her partner Kurt Russell have been together for 40 years. Despite the success of their relationship, they have never gotten married, a decision their children agree with. They have, however, had their share of challenges and once almost split up. They also build their home from scratch and love doing house chores, despite being worth millions of dollars.
"The First Wives Club" actress Goldie Hawn and her partner "Escape From New York" actor Kurt Russell have been together for decades, and despite the challenges they have been through, their love continues to grow.
The lovebirds have achieved a lot together, from featuring together in films such as "Overboard," "The Christmas Chronicles 1&2," "Swing Sheet," "Private Benjamin," "Cactus Flower," and "Foul Play," among many others, to establishing a relationship that, to many, remains a dream.

Besides work, the two have also had successful personal lives after blending their families, having a son together, and raising seven grandkids. But where did it all start?
Hawn and Russell first met in 1966 on the set of the live-action movie musical "The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band." They were both determined not to date other actors at the time, so they did not hit off immediately.
There was also the issue of their age difference. Hawn was 21 while Russell was 16, and while she thought he was adorable, and liked him a lot, the "Everyone Says I Love You" actress also felt he was too young.

Days passed, then weeks and years, and in 1983, 17 years after their initial meeting, the pair again found themselves set to appear in the same film, "Swing Shift."
When Hawn arrived to read the script with Russell, the actor recalls blurting out the first thing that came to mind: "Man, you got a great figure." He was severely hungover and knew his pickup line was corny, but when Hawn answered with a "Why thank you," he knew he might stand a chance.
Russell told Conan O'Brien that he did not know Hawn outside of working together nearly two decades earlier, but when he saw her again and what a great body she had, he could not stop himself. Luckily, she was not mad about his approach.
They went on their first date soon after, starting with dancing at the Playboy Club in Los Angeles. Russell's role in the "Swing Shift" was the guy who played the trumpet, and because Hawn is a professional dancer, Russell wanted them to go somewhere where they would dance to that kind of swing music, and the only place that offered that was The Playboy Club.
They then decided that the night was still young and left for a house Hawn had purchased and was renovating. They soon found their way around the imaginary furniture and into the imaginary bedroom, where things started getting steamy. They did not remember then that they had broken in to get into the house.
They only realized their mistake when the police walked in on them. Russell admits the situation was bizarre, but it did not dampen their spirits, and they just took their date somewhere else — to a hotel room, where they ended their date peacefully.
The pair fell in love on the set of the movie, and Hawn would later disclose that she knew he was the right guy for her when she saw how well he interacted with her kids, Oliver and Kate Hudson, from her previous marriage to Bill Hudson. She said:
"He was amazing with them. He was such a natural."
In July 1986, the lovebirds welcomed their first baby together, son Wyatt. Their family now felt complete. They had four children, Hawn's two and Russell's son Boston, from a previous marriage to Season Hubley. In addition to building an incredible family life together, the two continued featuring in films, and in 1987, they appeared in "Overboard."
The two continued to use their combined effort to take the world by storm, and in 1989, they presented together at the Oscars. And in September 1996, Russell supported Hawn by hitting the red carpet for the premiere of the cult classic "The First Wives Club."
Among their many achievements is being honored with stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The two received their stars in 2017, a ceremony that turned out more emotional than they had anticipated after Russell gave his speech:
"Simply put, Goldie, I cherish you. All the stars in the sky or on the boulevard can't hold a candle to that. There's no one else I'd rather be next to for all of that than Goldie Hawn."

The two have weathered life storms together and are only growing more in love as the years pass. However, like any other relationship, they have had their challenges, some so intense that they almost split.
An insider told Closer Weekly that the lovebirds were having trouble communicating. When they could no longer see eye to eye, Hawn took off to India to spend time with former cricket player turned politician Imran Khan.
Khan had, for years, held a reputation for his amorous life, and Russell's jealousy kicked in despite Khan denying any improper involvement with Hawn. And when Russell expressed his wish not to see Hawn, she left for their Malibu house while he stayed at their Pacific Palisades home.
Even though it appeared that the two had reached the end of the tether, they did bounce back, their children informing their decision to work things out and get back together. The insider concluded:
“It doesn’t take much for them to kiss and make up, and their bond became stronger after that turbulent split."
Even though the two have been together for four decades, they never desired to get married. Hawn had been married and divorced twice before Russell, while Russell also went through a divorce, and she admits that if she had married Russell, they would have already divorced.
Hawn said she wakes up every morning with a choice to love Russell and be there with him, not necessarily because she is bound to him by marriage. She said of her view on marriage:
“Vows are made. Vows are broken. Promises are made; promises are broken. What does a piece of paper have to do with it for me?”
She believes that no one should care about them being married or not as long as they are okay with that decision. She also disclosed that they had asked their kids if they cared about them getting married, and they did not. And if their kids ever felt the need for them to get married, they would.
Inside the House They Build from Scratch
Hawn and Russell boast several homes in Vancouver and New York, but their property in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, steals the show. The white Southern-style structure they designed together and built from scratch in 2016, moving in in 2017, is a sight to behold.
The house, situated on just over half an acre on top of a bluff, is a piece of art comprising a luxurious living room, an epic garden, and even a home gym.
Hawn and Russell opened their doors to their fans, albeit virtually, with videos of their beautiful home. In their luxurious living room is a fireplace with an ornate white mantelpiece with matching houseplants atop it and a TV set mounted in the middle. The room also features wooden floors with a fluffy cream rug and a wood and wire shelving unit to the side.
The living room features oversized couches, a master chandelier, beautiful and expensive art pieces, and crafts made by her grandkids. A photo of the actress with her daughter Kate Hudson and former son-in-law Chris Robinson on their wedding day sits atop a white piano.
The main living room also boasts a sweeping staircase with brown and white touches that is the home's centerpiece. A second living room features a white-and-blue patterned wallpaper and a marble coffee table in front of the fireplace.
Another room featured on Hawn's Instagram videos has white wood paneling, a large plant in front of a window, and white wicker chairs and furnishings.
The open-plan kitchen and dining room feature white walls, intricate furniture, and a lovely large bed for their dogs. The dining table also boasts unique colorful legs that make a statement to the style of the home.
The ground floor boasts double doors leading into the garden where a Buddha model sits, and the actress possibly meditates. Her lovely garden also features a giant cow, neatly cut grass where she plays with her dogs, and an alfresco dining table.
Their epic gym is equipped with a barre, floor-to-ceiling mirrors, a treadmill, a spin bike, a bar on one wall, and a mini trampoline. Their bedroom features a cream theme, large bay windows to bring in natural light, and an embellished throw on the bed.
Sharing Home Chores and Doting on Their Grandbabies
Much like their work together on numerous films, Russell and Hawn love sharing chores at home. After so many years together, the pair has established a system that works for them.

Russell admits that Hawn is a vastly superior chef, and he tries to stay out of her way when she is whipping up some tasty dishes. However, he also disclosed that he found it fun cooking with her every once in a while.
Russell also opened up about domestic chores and what they meant to men saying that not many men cared much if chores were done. He says he comfortably takes out the trash and does not mind the task at all. In 2020, Hawn posted a cute short video of herself with her family as they did dishes while dancing with the caption:
"Washing dishes doesn't have to be a chore. It can be a dance. It's all up to us."
Despite their combined net worth of $160 million — Russell is worth $100 million while Hawn is worth $60 million — they do not hire help to do house chores and instead do the chores themselves.
In 2019, the actress proved her love for cooking when she posted a video on her Instagram showing her making chicken bone broth in the kitchen.
The two also love spending time with their grandchildren, who refer to Hawn as "GoGo." Hawn always wanted to be a grandma, and in 2003, Hawn said she would love to be a grandmother. She confessed she was not trying to push the matter or rush her children into having kids, but she thought it would be so much fun.
Her wish was answered shortly after when her daughter announced her pregnancy and delivered Hawn's first grandchild months later. According to an insider, Hudson's children share a special bond with Hawn.

Their seven grandkids include Ryder Robinson, Hudson's son, with her ex-husband Chris Robinson. Bingham is Hudson's second son with Muse frontman Matt Bellamy, while Rani is her lastborn child with musician Danny Fujikawa.
Wilder Brooks and Bodhi are Oliver Hudson's sons with Erinn Bartlett, while Rio is his youngest and only daughter. Buddy Prine, Wyatt's son, is the youngest of the bunch.
Hudson's children Ryder and Bingham say their GoGo is fun, and time with her is filled with fun and laughter. They especially love to visit when their parents are out of town because, at their grandparents' home, anything goes. An insider shared:
"All the grandkids have a blast at GoGo's, and that's made Kate and Goldie's bond even tighter."
Russell is equally a doting grandparent to their seven grandkids. He admitted that he loved his title as a grandpa and hoped their children had even more kids because he was happy when kids played around.
Hudson recognizes how much Russell loves his children and grandchildren and appreciates him every Father's day. In June 2020, Hudson posted a cute photo of Russell holding one of his grandbabies as Hawn looked on, with the caption: "I love him to pieces. Happy Father's Day to our Pa."
