Deborah Mackin Partied with Snoop Dogg – Meet Florence Pugh's Mother

Florence Pugh has been stealing the show on the big screen lately. Off it, her parents, Deborah Mackin and Clinton Pugh showed a throwback of their partying skills when they accompanied their daughter to various Oscar week parties in Hollywood in 2020.

Pugh is part of the new generation of movie stars, and her mother is very proud of her daughter's achievements. Markin and her movie star daughter have a close relationship and enjoy spending time together, even accompanying each other to red-carpet events.

Florence is one of Mackin's four children. The others are also actors but have less heralded careers. She was a dancer before becoming a dance teacher in her later years, and her daughter credits her for teaching her how to be a professional from a young age.

Deborah Mackin Is a Former Dancer

Florence comes from a family of diverse talents as her father, Clinton Pugh, was a restauranteur, and her mother, Mackin, was a dancer who later became a dance teacher. Perhaps, Pugh got her passion and ability to perform from her mother, who was also involved in the performing arts.

Mackin also had hands full with Florence's other siblings. She had three more children, including the two oldest, Toby Sebastian and Arabella Gibbins, who are also actors.

Toby is known for portraying Trystane Martell in Game of Thrones, starring Maisie Williams and Emilia Clarke. Arabella is primarily a stage actress but has one short film to her credit. The fourth of Mackin's children is Rafaela Pugh, whose one movie credit was a Dee in the 2014 rated-R action film, "Born of War."

Markin and her husband raised their children mainly in Oxford, England. However, they once relocated to Spain for three years in the hopes of helping Florence recover from tracheomalacia, a frequent health complication she suffered from. The condition made breathing difficult for Florence due to a collapsed trachea.

Deborah Mackin Gave Her Daughter a Lesson in Professionalism When Florence Was 7

Mackin was instrumental, in one way or the other, in making her daughter a success story. She taught her daughter the importance of being professional while young. According to Florence, the lesson came after she had forgotten her lines for a play. Her words to Florence were:

“She sat me down, and she was like, ‘I know you’re only 7, and I know this is your first play, but when you do a play, you’re committing to something. When you go onstage, you know what your lines are. And you are essentially giving yourself to a performance. So, don’t be sloppy.'"

The advice has stuck in the memory of her now-famous daughter, who decided to take her parents to the Oscars in 2020, which was a memorable time for the couple. Florence said her mother and father seemed like toddlers, making bets on how many cool celebrities they could meet.

Florence described Mackin and Clinton as partiers who go out and make memories, and they sure did so. They were drinking and enjoying themselves to the extent that Mackin went missing at Madonna's party before appearing from nowhere and high, which they thought to be Snoop Dogg's doing.

Mackin and Florence have an extraordinary mother-daughter relationship. The pair is occasionally seen attending red-carpet events together.

Additionally, Florence is also seen with her grandmother. She refers to her as Granzo Pat, and the pair also seem to have a very close relationship. In 2022, Granzo Pat accompanied her grandchild to her Venice film premiere, and Florence described that experience as "the most special moment I had ever had on a carpet."

Florence Pugh seems to value her relationships with her mother and grandmother. When she could not be with them physically during the Covid-19 lockdown, she missed her mother, whom she said is "The prettiest Mama Mia."

In February 2021, she wrote a touching message dedicated to her mother and others suffering from the pandemic's effects, saying, "I’ve found myself constantly throughout this weird year smiling at the fact that I’ve subconsciously played their voices on loop in my head, in situations where I know I’ve needed their help. Turns out.. we do listen."
