She was in the process of creating an Instagram reel for her husband's birthday, which felt like "a knife in [her] heart," but she thought it was important to do because she knows how much Bruce's fans love him.

Emma felt it was important to share that she is not always strong and that some days she has feelings of grief that are difficult to overcome. She shared that she is only so strong because she doesn't have a choice.

When the Family Learned About Bruce's Diagnosis

In Spring 2022, Bruce was diagnosed with aphasia, a disease affecting one's ability to understand and speak any language. For this reason, he could not memorize scripts or communicate like he used to.

Bruce's family shared his diagnosis with fans so they could announce his retirement and promised to keep fans updated on anything that happened to him while he took a step back from the limelight.

An update on Bruce's health came in February 2023, but it was not something anyone had hoped for. Emma took to Instagram two days after Valentine's Day to share a photo of her husband on the beach and tell fans what was happening in their lives.
