Once in a while, a film serves as a reference to the era in which it was released, for example, the "Terminator" or the recent "Avengers" films. The same can be said about "The Sandlot," which gained popularity after its release in the 1990s. That said, there have been questions about where the cast is now.

The coming-of-age movie follows the exploits of Scotty Smalls, a new shy kid who wants to be part of the rowdy pickup baseball team that plays in the neighborhood sandlot daily.

The cast of the film was made up of mostly younger actors who have since grown into adulthood. Although many have continued to be involved in acting, some have left the scene and pursued other career opportunities.

Tom Guiry (Scotty Smalls)

Tom Guiry is a native of New Jersey, where he was born in Trenton on October 12, 1981. He made his debut appearance in the film "The Sandlot" at the age of 11. He was the leading actor in the family comedy, and that performance bolstered his popularity in the movie industry.

Since then, he has had a career spanning thirty decades, appearing in television and movie productions. Although he did not develop into one of Hollywood's hotshots, he has appeared in several famous films. These include "Black Hawk Down," Tom Hardy's first film role, and the Clint Eastwood-directed "Mystic River."

On television, he is known for portraying James "Jimmy" Donnelly in "The Black Donnellys," which aired on NBC in 2007. Other notable series that he has made very few appearances for include two episodes of "Law & Order" and one appearance in "CSI: Miami" as Doug Benson.

Although he is a celebrity, the actor holds an ordinary job, working at "Whole Foods." In 2018, he told People, "If I'm lucky enough to act, I still act." However, he tries to balance family and work, living with his three children in his native, New Jersey.

Mike Vitar (Benjamin "Benny" "The Jet" Franklin Rodriguez)

Unlike Gruiry, Mike Vitar had prior experience with acting before his famous role in "The Sandlot." He appeared in several productions, including "Diplomatic Immunity" in 1991, and continued to be cast in other films after "The Sandlot."

In 1996, Vitar made one episode appearance in "NYPD Blue" and was featured in the third "The Mighty Ducks" movie after working on the second one two years earlier. However, his career prematurely ended in 1997 while still a teenager. He decided to pursue a different career.

Vitar became a firefighter with the Los Angeles department. However, instead of saving lives, the former actor was involved in a battery case when he and some colleagues beat up a man, almost killing him. He was lucky to escape without jail time but was still sentenced to 90 days of community service and a $2000 fine.

Patrick Renna (Hamilton "Ham" Porter)

The man with the most extended list of credited productions amongst the alumni of "The Sandlot'' with 52 films and series appearances, Patrick Renna, has an extensive acting career. However, despite the long list, it mainly comprises short minor roles.

He was on one episode of the medical drama, "ER" as Howie McMurtry in 1999 and two episodes as Ronnie Thayer in "Judging Amy." His most significant contribution was his portrayal of Jerome in eight episodes of "Recess" between 1998 and 2000.

He launched a YouTube channel dedicated to creating nostalgic content related to the fan-favorite film, "The Sandlot." Away from his professional career, the actor married Jasmin on October 6, 2006, and the couple shares one child named Flynn Maxwell Renna.

Chauncey Leopardi (Michael "Squints" Palledorous)

Before his performances in "The Sandlot," Chauncey Leopardi was cast alongside some Hollywood heavyweights, including Steve Martin and Diane Keaton, in 1991's "Father of the Bride." He continued his acting career after his role in the coming-of-age movie in 1993.

Some of his appearances in famous productions include featuring on "Walker Texas Ranger" in 1999, nine episodes as Alan White in "Freaks and Geeks" from 1999 to 2000, and five episodes on the popular television series "Gilmore Girls."

Marty York (Alan "Yeah Yeah" McClennan)

Marty York was born in Auburn, California, on August 23, 1980. He is one of those that made their debut on-screen performances in "The Sandlot.'' He has gone on to make 11 more film and television appearances since.

Among his notable roles are his appearances as Larry in "Boy Meets World," Kenny in "Wings," and Pauly D in "The Eric Andre Show." When he was still in school, York lost interest in acting after getting involved in a terrible accident while driving to an audition.

His lower body was damaged and needed multiple surgeries to help heal. He eventually got back to acting but admitted that pursuing a career as an adult rather than a kid was more challenging.

Brandon Quintin Adams (Kenny DeNunez)

Brandon Adams' acting career began before many of his co-stars from "The Sandlot" began theirs. He is said to have made an appearance as Phil in "Benson" in 1986 and followed that with appearances in Michael Jackson's 1988 "Smooth Criminal" videos and the "Moonwalker" project.

He had several more on-screen appearances before 1993, but his career began to slow down, especially at the turn of the millennium. In 2018, he told People that he was still acting but also had to focus on his parental duties.

Grant Gelt (Bertram Grover Weeks)

After his exploits on "The Sandlot," Grant Gelt made a few more acting appearances in shows such as "Boy Meets World" and "Saved by the Bell: The New Class." However, he soon quit acting and found a new career.

The actor attended California State University, Northridge, and got into business development. He currently runs a creative agency called Masscult in which he is a founding partner and chief strategy officer.

Victor DiMattia (Timmy Timmons)

Victor DiMattia was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, in December 1980. He has been credited as an actor and director with 35 acting and two directorial credits. He also started his acting career early, first appearing in 1986 before portraying the titular character Dennis Mitchell in 1987's "Dennis the Menace."

DiMattia has had fewer roles since his 1993 appearance in "The Sandlot." His most significant contribution was perhaps as Sam Cafferty in "A Peaceable Kingdom." The actor had no acting credits between 1995 and 2018. He hosted a podcast, "Vic in a Box," between 2017 and 2019.

Shane Obedzinski (Tommy "Repeat" Timmons)

After performances in movies such as "My Girl," Shane Obedzinski followed in the footsteps of his "The Sandlot'' co-stars, Vitar and Gelt, quitting the acting industry.

The Bloomingdale High School graduate decided to become his own boss by opening a pizza store. The former actor kept himself busy by dishwashing and making the pizzas himself.

Obedzinski currently resides in Tampa, Florida, and his restaurant, Times Square Pizza Company, is also in the area.

However, he admitted in 2018 that he has not entirely given up on acting. He told People that "[I] am trying to do [acting] stuff on the side while I can."
