The music mogul suffered a severe accident on his electric bike that almost left him paralyzed. However, Cowell arrived looking well and in good spirits. He wore an all-grey outfit, accessorized with a black tote bag and aviator sunglasses.

Cowell's accident happened at his Malibu home, and his sons Eric and Adam and partner Lauren Silver witnessed the ordeal.

The television personality was trying out his new electric bike and accidentally pulled a wheelie, which landed his back on a concrete floor.

A source said Cowell did not expect the bike to be as powerful as it was, but the minute his body hit the ground, he knew he had broken his back. "He was in shock and in massive amounts of pain," added a source.

Cowell said he knew the rule of thumb was not to move after breaking his back, but at the moment, he could not process anything and wanted to be moved into his bedroom.

As he helplessly lay there, he felt himself passing out, "it was surreal," he confessed. Cowell was quickly driven to the hospital, which was not far from his $18 million Malibu home.

The "AGT" judge came close to fracturing his spinal cord and living the rest of his life in a wheelchair, but the fall still caused much damage. Cowell had to undergo a six-hour surgery.

He broke his back in three places and had metal rods in his spine. Fortunately, Cowell had a strong support system as he fought for his life. Silverman was by his side throughout his surgery.

The record executive opened up about his accident with Terri Seymour, who was also there to support Cowell during his long operation.

Seymour told him how great Silverman was during his recovery journey, "Lauren was amazing, running around after you, nursing you back to health." he said.

Cowell gushed over his long-time partner and added that his son Eric was also amazing throughout his healing process. "I couldn't have gotten through it without them, so we got closer." he expressed.

However, the 63-year-old also spoke about how difficult it was for him after his surgery. He confessed that one of the hardest parts was returning home to his fiance and children, looking frail and helpless.

He remembered telling Silverman that he did not know how to face or what to say to Eric. But Cowell suspected she said something to him because Eric walked in and told him, "Daddy, you're like Ironman," which he thought was sweet.

Another challenging aspect of the recovery was how helpless he felt. Cowell admitted that he had never been in a situation where he could not move his body and experienced such immense pain.

But he did his best to stay positive, swore to keep his body as fit as it had ever been, and stayed true to his promise.
