Despite Incurable Epilepsy, Romeo Beckham Became Richest of Beckham Brood — He's Following ‘Proud’ Dad’s Path
- Among the four of David Beckham's and Victoria Beckham's children, Romeo Beckham, who is a professional footballer like his father, is the richest.
- Romeo makes his father proud, as David goes to his son's football matches even when it rains.
- Nothing stood in the way of Romeo's path to richness and success, not even epilepsy, an incurable disease that he was diagnosed with in childhood.
David Beckham and Victoria Beckham have a love story for the books as they both said theirs was a case of love at first sight.
The couple's love has lasted years since they met in 1999, got married, and have since enjoyed a happy union, welcomed four children, and supported each other in their different careers.

According to David, the couple first met at a football match, but he already knew Victoria as she was famous because the singer was a member of the girls' group "Spice Girls." David added that he wanted to meet any one of the "Spice Girls" members, but his eyes were on Victoria:
"Before I even met Victoria, I told my best friend, who was my best man at our wedding, that I wanted to marry the one in the black dress with the ball."
David first fell for the singer when he saw her perform on TV. Victoria then came to one of David's football matches, and he said hi to her. The couple met again in another football match where David hilariously said Victoria had a few to drink and gave him her number.

Victoria also said it was love at first sight when he met David at the Manchester United players' lounge. However, she noted that the details were kind of hazy because she was a bit drunk. In a letter to her 18-year-old self, the singer wrote:
"You will see David standing aside with his family…he has such a cute smile. You, too, are close to your family, and you will think about how similar he feels to you. He's going to ask for your number."
In the letter, Victoria revealed that David still has the London to Manchester plane ticket where he wrote her phone number. She added that the two had their first dates in car parks for privacy's sake. The singer even remembered the black dress she wore on her first date with David.

On January 1998, David and Victoria announced that they were engaged but would not get married until the summer of 1999. The couple was jubilant when they made the announcement, and Victoria proudly showed off her engagement ring.
The pair exchanged vows at Luttrellstown Castle outside Dublin, with their first-born son Brooklyn Beckham serving as the ring bearer. David's teammates and Victoria's fellow "Spice Girls" attended the wedding.
Victoria looked stunning in a Vera Wang dress. The dress, which was strapless, had a sculptural neckline and a 20-foot train. The bride styled it with an 18-karat gold tiara designed by Princess Diana's jeweler.

David and Victoria welcomed their first child before their wedding as Brooklyn was born on March 4, 1999. On September 1, 2002, the duo had their second child Romeo Beckham, who Victoria had via cesarean section.
Romeo was born at Portland Hospital in Westminster, London, and David noted that they chose his name because "it's just a name of love." The father of four added that Romeo had his elder brother's nose and Victoria's chin.
The pair's family kept growing when six years after they got married, David announced on February 20, 2005, that they had welcomed their third child, a son, Cruz Beckham:
"We've got a baby boy. His name is Cruz. He is beautiful. He is in there with his brothers now, and he is very happy."
On July 10, 2011, David and Victoria had their only daughter Harper Beckham who was born in the Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles.

Before Harper was born, David and Victoria had mentioned in an interview that they were willing to have more kids as much as having three boys was already a lot of work:
"I think one day, if we're blessed to have more children, it would be amazing. It's a lot having three boys, but who knows, one day?"

Romeo Has an Incurable Disease: Epilepsy
David and Victoria's second child, Romeo spent a variety of stints in hospital in his childhood, which left his parents worried as they did not know what was happening to their son.
When he was three years old, Romeo spent time in the hospital after suffering from convulsions and was later released. A family friend told People that the family had chosen to keep the source of the young boy's convulsions private:
"Romeo is okay now; it's a big relief but still a worry. This is too sensitive a subject for them to talk about right now."
Romeo's parents revealed that their son had been diagnosed with epilepsy when the boy was four. Their son's source of convulsions was epilepsy. Epilepsy is a brain disease caused by the improper signaling of nerve cells. This malfunction causes a person to experience seizures.
Seizures are a burst of electrical activities which cannot be controlled and alter a person's awareness, sensations, muscle movements, and behaviors. The disease cannot be cured, but over 70 percent of people with epilepsy manage it with medications.
People who have epilepsy can have seizures, which could lead to death if treatment options are not available to them.

Victoria went public about his son's condition when photographers scrambled to photograph Romeo and her at an airport. The boy, angry at the photographers, covered his face until they got inside a car.
Romeo's mother protected him even when he was inside the car and angrily told the photographers, "He's got epilepsy…all that flashing will start an epileptic fit, and you can't do that."
Despite his busy schedule, Romeo has managed to create time for romance, as in 2019, he was reportedly dating model Mia Regan.

The photographers from Splash News later announced that they would no longer be photographing Romeo or his family when the boy was with them.
The media house also said they would not publish the photos taken during the unfortunate incident. The Splash News owner Kevin Smith added, "No photo is worth putting a child's life at risk."

David and Victoria have consistently protected Romeo and doted on the young boy, as evident from the time they hung out together. When Romeo was nine, his father took him out of a dad-son bonding session.
The duo went to watch Romeo's favorite ice hockey team, the Los Angeles Kings, play a home match. Romeo was excited about the night out and had worn his team's shirt and hat.
At one point, the cameras rested on Romeo, and his face was on the big screen, which excited the young boy as he jumped up and waved at his team to the amusement of his dad, who was grinning beside him.
Romeo attended private schools in London while growing up. At age ten, he made his modeling debut by featuring in a campaign by Burberry Kids, which sells the latest designer for kidswear.
The teenager landed another major appearance in his teens when he was the cover model of L'Uomo Vogue's Generation Issue.
Romeo soon decided to follow in his father's footsteps and is now a football player. The teenager joined Arsenal FC Academy like his brother Brooklyn but left when he turned 13.
David's son took a break from football and started playing tennis. He used to train for four to five days a week and, at one point, got a chance to play alongside British professional tennis player Andy Murray.
However, when Romeo turned 19, he took another chance at football when he joined Fort Lauderdale CF, the sister club to Inter Miami CF, which is co-owned by his father.
Romeo's team competed in League One of the United Soccer League. The young man eventually made his professional debut in September 2021 when his team played against Tormenta FC.
Romeo's Success Despite Health Adversity
Romeo is a successful football player today, despite facing the adversity that comes with being diagnosed with an incurable disease. The footballer joined Brentford FC team on loan from Inter Miami II and played for the team until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old debuted on January 11, 2023, when he played for Brentford FC. He announced this debut on Instagram in a post where he was holding up a Brentford shirt with his father next to him:
"I'm very proud and very happy to be here… I'm excited to come here and see what I can do. I came here at the start to keep fit during the off-season. The chance then came to come on loan here, and I've never been so excited."
In his debut match, his father braced the cold and rainy evening in southeast London to watch Romeo play. David, who was hidden under the hood of a black raincoat, stood in the crowd and watched his son play.
Romeo did not disappoint as he put on a dangerous cross from the right wing during the match, showcasing his prowess in the sport.

Romeo is not only a successful football player but has also matched the commercial success of his father outside the field by signing advertising contracts with famous brands.
In 2021, David's son signed a deal with Puma worth $1.5 million to become the global face of the sportswear giant. A source revealed that that deal was one among the many profitable collaborations lined up for Romeo:
"The deal with Puma will hopefully become a longstanding collaboration…He is now the richest of Beckham brood, and like his father, he is on a fast track to stardom."
The source also said that Romeo was a hard worker who pushed for the success of Fort Lauderdale CF on the pitch, adding that he was also catching the attention of advertisers.
Romeo had previously worked with designer brand Yves Saint Laurent in the summer, and the insider noted that he was optimistic that the company would reach out again to the footballer for another campaign:
"This is just the first of big commercial deals off the pitch for Romeo in his new career as a pro footballer. The future is very bright for Romeo, and it won't be long until he's banking another million."
David had also worked with Adidas in his time as an active footballer, and the insider told The Sun that Romeo was likely to hold the deal for years to come as the boy was still young:
"Just like David worked with Adidas for over 20 years, it is likely Romeo will do the same with Puma. He is young and perfect for their target demographic, so to Puma, he was worth every penny."
Despite his busy schedule, Romeo has managed to create time for romance, as in 2019, he was reportedly dating model Mia Regan. The duo made a public debut on the red carpet at the 2021 British Fashion Awards.
However, after dating throughout 2021 to mid-2022, Romeo and Mia reportedly split on July 2022. On March 27, 2023, Romeo shared a romantic picture with a girl who is speculated to be his new girlfriend.
In the picture shared on Instagram, the duo was lying cozy on a couch with the girl's head resting on Romeo's chest.

Romeo likes to show love to the people around him just as they also portray lots of affection for him. In one video shared on YouTube, British singer Elton John graced Romeo's birthday and sang for him sweetly a birthday song alongside his family and friends.
On his birthday in 2022, David also posted a clip of a young Romeo learning how to shave his mustache as he hilariously wished him a happy birthday and said he was proud of him:
"Happy birthday, my big boy. Just so you know, Dad will always film these moments. No more a teen, but we love you so much and are so proud of you."
In another like father, like son moment, Romeo shared a picture of himself and his dad in a pitch, captioned, "Happy Father's Day to the best dad out there. I love you so much, and I hope I'm making you proud."
David replied to the post," Love you, mate. I'm always watching you." The two showcased a proud father-son moment with their words of love for each other
Romeo, whose star in football and the commercial sector keeps rising, now splits his time between the U.S., where he plays football, and the U.K., where their family is based, as much as he sometimes trains and plays there too.
