Lillis' career is still growing, but she already has many fans and admirers. In 2020, several of her fans began a Twitter trend where they shared photos of the actress alongside the caption:

The Twitter posts came after Lillis starred in the Netflix series "I am Not Okay with This" alongside Wyatt Oleff and Sofia Bryant. The show was a follow-up to "The End of the [expletive] World."

Lillis began acting at a young age and joined Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute, Manhattan, where she enhanced her skills as an entertainer. With her father's support, Lillis started auditioning for roles and built her name in show business.

Sophia Lillis Starred In a Netflix Drama That Got Canceled – She Insisted that it Needs a Second Season
Besides social media, Lillis shares her work and life through interviews. In 2020, she had an interview claiming "I Am Not Okay With This" needed a second season.
On the show, Lillis starred as introvert Sydney Novak, a high school student with pent-up emotions. Unfortunately, Netflix canceled the series amidst lockdown as the schedule of filming could no longer be followed.
Lillis believes "I Am Not Okay With This" ended horribly because of the cliffhanger. As many viewers were, the actress was also excited for another season. She said:
"Hopefully, it gets picked up soon, but I honestly don't know how these things work. [...] It needs a second season."

Besides "I Am Not Okay With This," Lillis also starred in the Amazon original "Uncle Frank," a coming-of-age- film that received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Television Movie.
"Uncle Frank’s" storyline revolves around Lillis' character, Beth, and her gay uncle Frank, who she forms an incredible bond with while keeping his sexuality a secret from their family. Beth later becomes the driving force that pushes his uncle to live his truth without holding back.

As the story was set in the '70s, many still didn't accept members of the LGBTQ+ community, which made Sophia Lillis' gay on-screen uncle's coming out all the more difficult.
