Atz Lee Kilcher's Children and Why They Are Not on the Family Show
Atz Lee Kilcher is a television personality known for the Discovery show "Alaska: The Last Frontier." The reality series documents the Kilcher family's descendants who have carved out a life in the homestead of the Alaskan wilderness.
Swiss immigrants Yule and Ruth Kilcher tied the knot in 1941 and worked together to create a life in Alaska, secluded in the wild.
The couple welcomed eight children together, and today, they all work the land side-by-side and continue to lead the homestead life.
Atz Kilcher is the couple's eldest child who has four children: Atz Lee, Jewel, Shane, and Nikos. Atz Lee is married to Jane Kilcher, a fish-catching expert. She is originally from Homer, Alaska, near the Kilcher Homestead. The Kilchers live like the late Billy Brown and his wife Ami Brown from "Alaskan Bush People."
For years, Jane was a commercial fisherwoman and was later drawn to Atz through their love for music. She left her job to move in with him.
Atz Lee Kilcher Has 2 Children With Jane Kilcher
Atz Lee Kilcher and his wife Jane share a son and a daughter. Their eldest child Etienne was born in May 2001, and their youngest, Piper, arrived two years later.
In January 2018, Jane wrote on Facebook that she was "overwhelmed" by the fact that other people had just realized she and Atz Lee had kids. The mother of two posted a photo of her daughter on a horse.
As for Etienne, he constantly features in his father's Instagram posts. The youngster graduated high school in 2019, and Atz Lee congratulated him on social media alongside a photo of the father-son duo smiling.
The family patriarch often goes fishing with his son. Between July and December 2019, he posted a photo of Etienne holding a fish and one of them together with fishing rods while posing for the camera.
Meanwhile, Etienne showed off his girlfriend on his Instagram and said he is "forever grateful the universe brought you to me," alongside pictures of her. In September 2022, he shared that the new season of the family show would premiere that month and released a clip of it.
While he is active on social media, his sister Piper is less open to the public. She does not have social media and rarely appears on their parents' pages.
But Jane posts old photos of her. The doting mom shared a throwback image of Piper in a pink dress in November 2018 and wrote that she loved the picture.
Atz Lee's Children Aren't on the Family Show
In 2018, Jane stated she and her husband Atz Lee's children do not appear on the family reality show and revealed why she keeps them away from the cameras even though they appeared in the first episode.
The TV star emphasized their kids are not kept secret but are mainly protected from the "AWFUL internet trollers," adding once they start getting older, fans might see them onscreen.
A year prior, Jane penned a lengthy post on Facebook expressing dissatisfaction with negative comments online regarding the show's cast. She further stated:
"Thank God I keep the kids off the show for the most part, it's terrible to be judged when you are a part of a family show where so much love and accomplishment happens. No one in our family deserves the hate and ugly comments."
Within the comments section, one follower mentioned seeing young Etienne in the first episode. Jane replied and said they attempted to have small parts about their son, adding they needed to be sure it was the right call for him because having reality TV child stars is a "delicate matter." A prime example is that of Kelly Osbourne, who was bullied online after appearing on the family reality show "The Osbournes," as a teenager.
'Alaska: The Frontier' Fans Support the Parents in Their Decision to Protect Their Children's Privacy
When "Alaska: The Frontier" returned for its eighth season, Jane announced its premiere date on social media along with a photo from the set.
The brunette captioned her Facebook post: "I know I'm the married in Kilcher that won't put my kids on TV, but I had a blast this year filming!"
Fans commented on the post and rallied behind her and Atz Lee on their decision not to have their son and daughter on camera. One person said, "Nothing wrong with keeping some things private."
Another follower stated, "I love the fact that you don't put your kids in the show no need to subject them to the internet/social media trolls." "I would love to see more of your kids of course, but completely support you in knowing whatever is best for your family," said another user.
