Chris O'Dowd was born in Boyle, Ireland, on October 9, 1979—the youngest of five children. Chris started studying politics and sociology at University but found his interest drifting to acting and discovered he had a flair for comedy.
Chris has an impressive resumé that includes films like "Bridesmaids," with Rebel Wilson, "This Is 40," with Melissa McCarthy, and the Marvel extravaganza, "Thor: The Dark World" with Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, and Tom Hiddleston.

The Irish actor met and fell in love with Scottish author and TV presenter Dawn Porter. Dawn, who was born in Alexandria, Scotland, on January 23, 1979.
Dawn initially wanted to be an actress but quickly discovered she preferred TV journalism. She presented several documentaries for the BBC and produced the film "Torn," the series "Skins," and "Will Sliney's Storytellers."
In an unconventional gesture, Dawn kept her maiden name but adapted it to her husband's by adding the traditional Irinsh "O.'"
She is also an acclaimed bestselling author. Dawn's first book was "Diaries of an Internet Lover," and she has since published "Paper Aeroplanes," about her difficult childhood, "The Cows," and "So Lucky."
Dawn O'Porter Rejected Chris's Facebook Friend Request Three Times
The couple has now been married since 2012, but it wasn't exactly love at first sight for Dawn. The two initially met at her 30th birthday party in 2011, and actor/comedian Nick Frost encouraged Chris to friend Dawn on Facebook.
Dawn was not impressed and turned down his friendship request three times, but he must have done something to change her mind and even fell in love with her cat.
A year after they met, the couple married after a 7-month engagement. Always the comedian, Chris announced the wedding with his usual tongue-in-cheek humor in a tweet, writing:
"I'm so bored of all this happiness and sex. I'm getting married."
The two tied the knot after a three-day party in a small intimate ceremony in their backyard. Dawn wore a lovely white gown with a fitted bodice covered in beaded flowers.
In an unconventional gesture, Dawn kept her maiden name but adapted it to her husband's by adding the traditional Irish "O'." Chris explained:
"She didn't want to give her name away. But she also thought she wanted to take something of her husband's, you know, and the O is hugely meaningful. O only exists in Ireland."
Chris O'Dowd Is a Boy Dad - Get To Know His Sons
The couple welcomed their first child, a son, on January 25, 2015, and named him Art. Dawn and Chris became parents for the second time on July 1, 2017.
The two happily announced that the new addition to the O'Dowds is another boy called Valentine O'Porter. Dawn and Chris occasionally share snaps of their two boys, and they are cute as buttons.
