Although Candice Patton has guarded her love life from the public eye, the actress once admitted to being "terribly single" but said she was "definitely looking!" Not too long ago, however, she was allegedly involved in an extramarital affair with an NBA star.

Candice Patton gained worldwide renown when she won a starring role in the DC superhero series "The Flash," but the actress's talents had been recognized long before. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BFA in Theater from South Methodist University.

During her time at the institution, she was scouted by "The Young and The Restless" for CBS's Soap Star Contest. Soon after, she joined the cast for a few episodes in the romantic drama and returned to Dallas to finish her studies. In the following years, Patton made brief appearances in several TV shows.

Her longest-running roles were in the mystery series, "Sorority Forever," portraying Mercedes Muna. She joined Tia Mowry and the late Nipsey Hustle's wife, Lauren London, in "The Game" between 2013 and 2014 and starred in 183 episodes of "The Flash" as Iris West-Allen, opposite Grant Gustin and Danielle Panabaker.

Patton's portrayal of Iris and her onscreen romance with Gustin earned her a sizeable following worldwide. Unsurprisingly, her real-life dating history piqued the interest of many; however, the 37-year-old has been tight-lipped. Still, she once made headlines for a particular romantic link.

Candice Patton Was Mentioned in Basketball Player J.R. Smith's Family Scandal

In December 2019, Jewel Harris, the wife of NBA star J.R. Smith, posted a lengthy now-deleted prayer video on Instagram claiming her husband was cheating on her. Harris asked for God's forgiveness on behalf of Smith and his alleged mistress, Candice, though she did not mention this woman's last name.

In what appeared to be a response and rebuttal on his IG story, Smith reportedly wrote, "IG aint a place for relationships but God told me to tell y'all I've been separated for months. He doesn't understand why his child failed to mention that ...#thatsall. (sic)"

Reports of Smith and Patton being romantically involved had already spread amid this online confrontation. The rumored lovers were sighted together at a Halloween party in a video posted by Vanessa Morgan on her IG story. However, neither ever addressed the speculation.

Candice Patton Keeps Her Relationships under the Radar

The Hollywood starlet has an active social media presence, but her pages show no signs of a romantic relationship. Still, it is likely that she prefers to keep them off social media if there have been any. Patton last spoke about her relationship status during a 2015 interview.

When a fan offered their brother as a suitor, she responded, "A siz in law, I love that! I'm so terribly single. I've been single for so long." Patton lamented how hard it was to meet people as work consumed most of her time. Still, she said, "I'm definitely looking!"

As for the qualities she desires in a man, Patton said she was attracted to quiet, nerdy, kind men who could make her laugh. She added that something people often get wrong about her is assuming she's "strong." The actress described herself as "quite sensitive."

In 2019, she expressed her love for her fans and said some of her best experiences while working on "The Flash" were fan encounters. Still, the star maintained her boundaries, as she enlightened, "I am very private and very old school about how much access people should have."

Candice Patton Has 2 Dogs and Seems Really Happy with Them

In 2015, Patton posted a photo depicting her cozied up with her former onscreen lover, Rick Cosnett. "Guys. Help me find my boyfriend. Taller than me. Blonde. Good looking. Very good looking. Not great at trivia," she joked alongside the doodled-on picture.

Fans caught on the joke immediately, but they appreciated Patton and Cosnett's chemistry on the show. Still, it couldn't be realized in real life, as Cosnett came out as gay in 2020. Regardless, Patton appears happy with the presence of her furry companions, who frequently appear in bathroom selfies and accompany her on coffee stops.
