Nicole Kidman Teased Her Met Gala Outfit Hours before Stepping on the Event's Red Carpet

Nicole Kidman arrived at the 2023 Met Gala wearing a vintage Chanel dress created by the late Karl Lagerfeld. It's the same gown the actress wore for the Chanel No. 5 advertisement back in 2004.

Hours before attending the red carpet, the Hollywood star teased her look on social media. Nicole Kidman shared two video clips featuring Chanel commercials in which the actress starred.

The gowns from the ad were created by the late designer Karl Lagerfeld, whose name became the theme for this year's Met Gala. Kidman even wrote "for Karl" under one of her posts.

Nicole Kidman's choice of dress was a touching tribute to the late Lagerfeld. The actress shared a video where she's fully dressed and dashing out of a taxi, which she captioned "Running to The Met" and added a winking emoji.

Just hours later, Nicole Kidman shared behind-the-scenes preparations for the Met Gala night, where she's wearing that exact dress. Her husband, Keith Urban, supported her during the night out.

During her chat on the Met Gala red carpet, Nicole recalled how the designer literally "concocted" the dress out of his head, as she said:

"To be able to wear the same thing 20 years later and it still holds...There's whimsy to it."

Although the gown has a 4-meter length train and is decorated with 250 feathers, Kidman feels very comfortable wearing it. The handmade couture dress also shines with 3,000 sequins. The actress complemented her look with a black bow in her hair, a black bracelet, and black heels.

The Chanel commercial for their No. 5 perfume came two years before she married Urban in 2006, and it's where Nicole originally appeared in the dress. It features her as a superstar who escapes the flashing lights of the paparazzi - only to find herself in a taxi with a handsome man with whom she has a romance during the ad.

After leaving the taxi, her scent remained. The now mesmerized gentleman notes how he will never forget the moment, just as Nicole turns back to the camera and smiles.

Nicole Kidman attended the Met Gala three times before the 2023 event. The last time was in 2016 with her husband when the theme was "Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology."

Nicole opted for an Alexander McQueen gown consisting of a dress and a cape. The black gown was fully customized with crystals and sequins, which connected to form celestial bodies on the dress.
