Michael J Fox Makes Rare Appearance with Twins as They Support Him - His Wife Had Doubts about More Kids before Their Birth

Fox, his wife, and their rarely-seen 28-year-old daughters were recently spotted at the 2023 Spring Moving Image Awards. Fox was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his Hollywood career.

Fox wore black slacks and a black blazer with a printed shirt underneath. His wife wore a black dress with an intricate paisley design on top of it. His daughters showed off their styles, one in a black and red dress and another in a pale blue suit.

The foursome posed for photos happily amid Fox's struggle with Parkinson's disease. He was first diagnosed years ago and recently released a documentary called "Still," which chronicles his journey with the disease.

Why Was Fox's Wife Not Sure About Having More Kids?

Tracy Pollan and Fox have been married for years, and she has been one of the driving factors in his ability to see the light side of life amid his disease. The couple prefers to focus on the good rather than the bad.

Fox joked that when people pity them because of what Fox is going through and how Pollan has to help him, they roll their eyes because they are having a good time. They do this by joking often.

When asked how they spend their date nights, Fox said it was similar to everyone else. They would go to movies or get dinner; sometimes, their son would tag along. In fact, family is critical to Fox and his wife.

The family takes trips to the country, and Fox says they are very affectionate with one another. Sometimes they will all even lay in one bed to watch a movie together. His children also help him with his disease.

He says that his children have grown up with him struggling and will help him without even thinking about it, like when he's reaching for something and one of his children will grab it for him without even having to ask.

Fox admitted that he did have moments where he thought about whether or not he was selling his family short with his disease, but he quickly realized that he was not and that they were having as much fun as he was.

However, when the couple thought about having more children, Fox's wife was not as keen on the idea as he was. Pollan believed they would be better off not adding more children to their brood.

Fox admitted that early in their marriage, every time he brought up having more children, his wife would change the subject entirely. He wanted to have more children because everything he had been through changed how he looked at life.

One day, everything changed for the couple. They watched their son playing with his cousins when Pollan said:

"He'd be a great brother."

Fox knew then that his wife was ready to have more children and could tell Pollan trusted him enough to have more children. Pollan fell pregnant shortly after that and found she was having twins.

At that point, the couple was in their forties, but they decided they wanted their home to be even noisier than it was after they had the twins. They knew that they needed one more child to complete their brood.

What Are Fox's Twin Daughters Doing Now?

Fox is now the father to four children, son Sam, twin daughters Aquinnah and Schuyler, and a third daughter, Esmé. Pollan and Fox welcomed their double-blessing twins in early 1995, six years after their big brother.

Fox was excited when he saw that he and his wife would have a "bonus baby" during their first sonogram. Those twins have grown into beautiful young women who have built successful careers.

Aquinnah graduated from Duke University in 2018, and by September 2022, she had become an assistant at Annapurna Pictures. Schuyler graduated from Pomona College and went on to study at Harvard University.

In September 2022, Schuyler began working as a producer at FableVision. The twins also have experience working at their father's charity organization, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.

Although they both have successful careers now, they never hesitate to help their father whenever needed. In fact, the entire family rallies around to help Fox anytime he is in need.

The family is there for one another whenever they need it, but Fox's diagnosis has been challenging for them. Tracy shared:

"Sometimes the kids will need their dad's help, and he'll say, 'I'm not feeling great right now. But on the flip side, the first thing he does is go back to the kids when he's feeling good. It teaches them patience and empathy."

Although it is difficult for the family, they have supported Fox throughout his struggle and even helped him become accustomed to using a wheelchair from time to time when his body is too tired to walk.

Fox also shares photos of his family on social media. In February, he posted a photo carousel of himself and his daughters on Instagram for their birthday, with his fans also wishing the girls a happy birthday.

He did a similar thing in 2021 when he shared a photo collage of the girls, which showed them as babies, children, and grown-ups. Fans once again commented, wishing the girls a happy birthday.
