Johnny Christopher King Backus Is a Baseball Player – Facts about Mira Sorvino & Christopher Backus' Son
While his mother has made a name for herself in front of the camera, Johnny Christopher King Backus proved his talents lay elsewhere: on the baseball field. However, Mira Sorvino and her son still managed to find a shared interest to bond over.
Mira Sorvino welcomed Johnny Christopher King Backus on May 29, 2006, at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Beverly Hills, California. Although the baseball player was born 7 pounds and 14 ounces, he has grown to be a whopping 6'5" and 215 pounds, making him the perfect left fielder.
At the time of writing, Johnny Christopher King Backus has already earned a spot in the lineup of The San Jose Giants, a Minor League Baseball team of the California League. And at 17, the baseball player has already made his actress mother one proud mom.
Christopher King Backus Has an Instagram Account, but He Isn't Very Active
At the time of this publication, Johnny had less than 1,000 followers on Instagram. However, the baseball player has not been very active on social media, as he only had three posts, with his first post made in October 2021 and the last post in April 2023.
Instead of spending time on social media, in a personal statement, Johnny revealed that he was more invested in growing as a baseball player. He shared:
"I've learned a lot about myself and my love (for) the game over the past year... I've dedicated myself to being the best teammate I can be and to improve myself as an athlete during this time. Through it all, I've become stronger mentally, knowing I can face the adversity that this game is sure to bring as I continue to advance in my career."
Johnny Christopher King Backus and His Mom Found a Creative Way to Keep Busy during Quarantine
Although Johnny and his mother have different passions, that did not stop the mother and son from bonding during quarantine. Following the Covid-19 lockdown, he and his family—including his actor father, Christopher Backus—kept busy by recreating posters for classic films.
However, even though it was a family effort to impressively pull off the recreation of the "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and "Rebel Without a Cause" posters, Johnny's famous mom revealed, "Johnny did all the graphics."
Johnny Christopher King Backus' Mother Would Put Her Life on the Line for Him and His Siblings
Since becoming a mother, Mira Sorvino revealed that there is very little she isn't willing to do for her children, including laying down her life for Johnny and his three siblings. The actress said:
"I would die for my children. I would kill for my children if someone were trying to hurt them. I have become a very fierce mama bear, and I'd lay down my life in a heartbeat if it could save theirs."
Johnny's mom also enjoys very little more than watching her children perform. While Johnny and his brother Holden developed a love for baseball, their older sister is a dancer/choreographer, and their younger sister has a bright future as a singer.
During an interview, the actress revealed that Johnny—who was awarded $ 100,000 following a dog attack—and his siblings have Viking roots, as they are of Norweigan and Swedish origin.
