Fortunately, Bonaduce's co-star, David Cassidy, stepped in to help him turn his life around. Cassidy offered him a chance to join him on tour with the condition that there would be no drinking, no drugs, and no women.

Initially hesitant, he eventually agreed, and the tour proved to be a turning point. By the end of the tour, Bonaduce's talent and commitment caught the attention of a radio station manager, who offered him a job.

In her book "Surviving Agent Orange: And Other Things I Learned From Being Thrown Under the Partridge Family Bus," Hillmer revealed the challenges she faced during her 18-year marriage to Bonaduce, who battled addiction.

Their relationship was marked by highs and lows, with Hillmer trying to support Bonaduce through his struggles. When the constant roller coaster of sobriety and relapse eventually took its toll, Hillmer made the difficult decision to file for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.

Although the pair rarely communicate now, except for discussions about their children, Hillmer reflected on the great times they shared during their marriage while acknowledging the exhausting nature of their relationship toward the end.

Despite the divorce, Bonaduce's love for Hillmer remained evident. He openly expressed his deep affection for her and his reluctance to accept the dissolution of their marriage. On a radio show in 2007, Bonaduce confessed that he didn't want a divorce and still loved Hillmer.

However, he acknowledged that Hillmer had contemplated the idea for several months, diminishing any hope for a reconciliation. He emphasized that there was no animosity between them and that he held no grudges.

In March 2009, after two years of being together, Bonaduce proposed to his girlfriend, Railsback, with a sterling silver skull and crossbones ring adorned with diamonds and rubies.

While they awaited their future engagement ring and wedding, the unique ring symbolized their love and commitment. Railsback, who also served as Bonaduce's manager, joyfully accepted the proposal.

After three years of promising to marry his fiancée, Bonaduce's plans materialized in November 2010. On November 22, in a private ceremony at Maui's picturesque Plumeria Point, they exchanged heartfelt vows against the backdrop of the ocean and islands.

Despite all odds, Railsback and Bonaduce have been going strong and will celebrate their 13th wedding anniversary in November 2023. In an interview in 2012, Railsback expressed her love and admiration for her husband, emphasizing his generosity and fun-loving nature.

Despite their 23-year age difference, Bonaduce acknowledged that he couldn't have chosen a better partner and expressed his happiness in marrying her.

On another occasion in 2013, Bonaduce revealed that meeting Railsback had a transformative effect on him. Her character, combined with her indifference to his fame and wealth, inspired him to change. Railsback's ultimatum to quit drinking motivated him to become a better person and his last drink was on January 10, 2011.

In 2018, Bonaduce attributed his sobriety and newfound peace to Railsback's influence. Despite his past struggles, her loving presence and unwavering support showed him the value of making efforts for a meaningful relationship.

While the exact cause of his condition remains uncertain, the actor speculated that past incidents, such as being hit in the head with a guitar and punched by Jose Canseco, might have contributed to his health issues.

The surgery involved the placement of a shunt and drain in his head, with hopes of a significant improvement in his condition.

Bonaduce's wife has played a vital role in his recovery. She supported him throughout the diagnostic process and was said to have noticed his slurred speech and balance issues, prompting initial medical attention.

Following the successful surgery, Railsback shared regular updates about her husband's health, assuring everyone that he was doing well. The couple decided to sell their Seattle home, as its layout was no longer suitable for Bonaduce's safety. They have reportedly relocated to a new neighborhood.

Despite the challenges posed by his health condition, Bonaduce remains optimistic about the future. He expressed gratitude for any progress, even if it meant being able to walk independently from one room to another. With his wife's support and their strong bond, he's determined to overcome the obstacles and continue his recovery journey.
