Mattie Jackson Tied the Knot Years after Her First Husband Died

When Mattie tied the knot with Ben Selecman in 2017, neither of them knew their marriage would be cut short due to an unforeseen incident in 2018. Unfortunately, Selecman died in September 2018 after he slipped on a boat dock and injured his head.

"He was always there to go fish with Dad when we didn't want to go," Mattie shared about her late husband, revealing how much he loved to stay outdoors.

Losing her husband so soon was a "traumatic and tragic" experience for Mattie. She felt terrible watching her parents, who loved their son-in-law, feel helpless after the loss. Selecman had become a part of the family so quickly. They couldn't do anything to bring him back and make their daughter feel happy again.

However, as time passed, the young widow moved on in life. She believed in her prayers and asked God to "give me the chance to love someone with my whole heart again."

In May 2023, Mattie took to Instagram to share that she had tied the knot with her fiancé, Connor Smith, more than four years after losing Selecman. The 32-year-old met her now-husband through a mutual friend.
