Edna Marshall Was a 'Father Figure' – Facts about Quavo's Mom

Edna Marshall, Quavo's mom, has shared a close relationship with her son since he was a little boy. And following the passing of his father, the rapper's mother shouldered the responsibility of both parents and taught Quavo how to be a man.

According to Quavo's family, the rapper grew up as a mamma's boy. And although the rapper had to deal with teasing from his sisters, the mother-son duo have remained just as close over the years.

Following her son's fame, Edna Marshall has also lived her life in the public eye. She has been her son's plus one to red-carpet appearances and often documents her close relationship with her only son on social media.

Edna Marshall Supported Her Family Following the Death of Her Husband

During her children's early years, Edna and her late husband raised their kids in Athens, Georgia. Sadly, when Quavo was around four, his father passed away, leaving her, a beautician, to support the rapper and his two older sisters by herself.

However, she remained a loving woman despite the difficult circumstances—including having to relocate after half of their home burned down. The rapper recalled how his mom would welcome his friends into her home and never complained.

Edna soon became a mother figure to all of her son's friends, including Offset and Takeoff, who, with Quavo, make up the musical sensation, Migos.

Edna Marshall Taught Her Son How to Be a Man and Is Very Proud of Him

Following his father's death, Quavo grew up in a home with a predominantly female presence and looked to his mother for guidance as he grew into a man. However, Edna didn't only have an impact on her son, as Offset said:

"She was the father figure. She knew how to raise you as a man."

And in 2021, after Quavo celebrated his mother in honor of Valentine's Day, Edna took to Facebook to reveal how proud she was of the man she raised.

Quavo had praised his mom for being the "strongest, realest, toughest and most beautiful woman alive (sic)." Edna responded, "Thank you, Father God, for teaching me how to raise a MAN. I Luv you too, son... Proud mom over here (sic)."

Edna Marshall Shared a Close Relationship with the Rest of the Migos Members

Technically, Quavo and Takeoff are uncle and nephew, as Edna is Takeoff's grandmother. And like his uncle, Takeoff shared a close relationship with Edna.

As a Christmas gift in 2017, Takeoff and Quavo joined forces and purchased a home for Edna in Georgia. "ME and Take Jus Bought Mama A House!!! Tha Big Way!!! (sic)" Quavo tweeted. He also shared a snap of Edna's brick mansion worth over two million dollars on Instagram.

The elaborate gifts did not stop there as for Edna's birthday in 2020, Quavo—who dated Saweetie— surprised his mom with a video of her "favorite" Kris Jenner wishing her a happy birthday. The rapper also gifted his mother two Hermès purses and a Hermès bag-inspired cake worth fifty thousand dollars.

Sadly, two years later, Edna and her grandson were parted by death after the rapper was fatally shot in Houston, Texas, in 2022, his passing sending shockwaves through the music industry.
