Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, has recently released shocking news. Following her divorce from Prince Andrew, King Charles III's younger brother, she has been in the news a few times over the years. Now, she's in the limelight once more as she opens up about her personal health.
While June has been a month filled with news stories that kept readers on the edge of their seats, the news of Ferguson's breast cancer diagnosis has come as a shock to many across the globe. The Duchess first found out that she had the disease during a routine mammogram near the start of June.

The 63-year-old Ferguson kept news about her cancer diagnosis quiet while she considered her options. Luckily, doctors spotted the cancer early on, and they sprung into action as quickly as possible. Ferguson was reportedly admitted to the King Edward VII Hospital in Marylebone, London, on Tuesday, June 20.
The Duchess explained her choice to keep the news about her diagnosis to herself.
Little has been released about the nature of her hospital visit, but sources have suggested that the Duchess underwent a major operation to remove the cancer. Although she went into the hospital on Tuesday, Ferguson was only released on Sunday morning, after staying under the watchful eye of medical experts for six days.

Close friends of Ferguson's have revealed that the operation went well, and things are looking up for the Duchess after her stint in the hospital. Doctors have reportedly assured her that the procedure was a success and that she should be back on her feet shortly. All indicators suggest Sarah is recovering with her family at Windsor Castle.
Although Ferguson is back at Windsor, and sources indicate that she still lives at the Grand Royal Lodge with her ex-husband, Prince Andrew, the Duchess reportedly also has a "secret home" she reserves only for herself. The Duchess has allegedly bought herself a multi-million-pound property in 2022, where she presumably goes to have some time alone, away from the rest of the royal family.
Ferguson confessed that the Royal Lodge doesn't entirely feel like home to her, but expressed gratitude that she could settle in there whenever she is in the UK for extended periods. Now, it seems the Duchess is looking for a home of her own. According to Hello!, some of Ferguson's friends have confirmed that she purchased a new home.
While Ferguson lives at the Royal Lodge, it seems she doesn't always get along with her ex-husband's family. And although many in the royal family have welcomed her back into the family with open arms, she wasn't added to the list of family members invited to King Charles's coronation in May.
Sarah Ferguson's Relationship with Her Other Family Members
Following her diagnosis, the serious operation, and the time she spent in the hospital, Ferguson was taken back to Windsor, where she's recovering in comfort. Her daughters, grandkids, and other family members are reportedly looking after her. The Duchess shares her two children, Princess Beatrice, 34, and Princess Eugenie, 33, with her ex-husband.
The mother-of-two has opened up about her relationship with her daughters on numerous occasions, noting how proud they have made her over the years.
Little news surrounding Ferguson's health has come from the royal family, but sources have suggested that the rest of the inhabitants of Windsor and many others have come together to wish the Duchess the best and look after her while she recovers from her surgery. Prince Andrew has also been scarce the last week.

After she was released, a friend revealed that Ferguson's operation had been a great success and that she thanked the medical staff profusely for their efforts. She also extended her thanks to the medical staff who first identified the cancer growth during her mammogram, praising their work and adding:
"She is also hugely thankful to the staff involved in the mammogram which identified her illness, which was otherwise symptom-free, and believes her experience underlines the importance of regular screening."
The Duchess explained her choice to keep the news about her diagnosis to herself. Ferguson noted that she wanted to keep the ordeal private until after she had faced the worst of it and was out of the hospital. Although the public didn't know, Ferguson did inform her family that she would be undergoing surgery.

Ferguson is close with her family as well as with her ex-husband's family, but the two relatives she is most closely connected to are, without a doubt, her daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie. The Duchess and her ex-husband welcomed their first daughter into the world on August 8, 1988, while her sister followed on March 23, 1990.
Sadly, by 1992, Ferguson and Prince Andrew's relationship started going downhill, and the two legally separated that same year. Beatrice was four years old when her parents split, while Eugenie was only two. But Ferguson and Prince Andrew decided to co-parent, working together to raise their daughters.
Over the years, Ferguson maintained a close relationship with her daughters while encouraging the same between them and their father. In March, she gushed about how proud she was of her two girls in an Instagram post, sharing an image of them as children and writing about how much she adored her kids.
The image showed Beatrice and Eugenie as little girls, strutting side-by-side in purple and green outfits, respectively. Ferguson captioned the post, "I'm so proud of my girls and the beautiful women and mothers they have grown up to be. I feel extremely blessed to call them mine. My darlings, you are my sunshine always & forever."
The mother-of-two has opened up about her relationship with her daughters on numerous occasions, noting how proud they have made her over the years. Following their mother's brush with cancer, Beatrice and Eugenie have joined the Duchess in spreading awareness about cancer.
Much like another royal mother-of-two, Meghan Markle, Ferguson shares a close bond with her children. The three women have long coordinated their efforts to help various cancer charities. They've spoken to cancer patients over the years, offering help where they can. More recently, Ferguson has been using her podcast to encourage women to get tested regularly.
