Inside the All-Pink Malibu Barbie Dreamhouse Where Fans Can Book a Free Stay
Barbie's house will soon be open to fans! The newly renovated Malibu dream house sports Barbie's signature pink hue and boasts a toy-inspired interior that would bring fans into the famous doll's world.
Barbie's DreamHouse in Malibu is an emblem of childhood fantasies as will soon open its vibrant pink doors for an exclusive two-day event to celebrate the upcoming release of "Barbie," hitting theaters on July 21. This time, however, Ken, plays host making the most of Barbie's absence.
"While Barbie is away, she has handed over the keys to her Malibu DreamHouse this summer, and my room could be yours for the night," quipped Ken in a promotional statement. Two lucky guests, and their plus one, will get to spend a night for free in the dream house since Ken couldn't figure out a nightly rate.

Nestled along Malibu's picturesque coastline, the mansion epitomized a sun-drenched haven for surf enthusiasts, complete with endless stretches of beach.
Touches of Ken, portrayed by Ryan Gosling in the film, is evident throughout, with cowboy-themed décor, a wardrobe bearing Ken's attire, an alfresco outdoor disco dance floor, and an infinity pool featuring a fabulous hot pink slide. Picture-perfect lounge chairs, barbecue with faux meats, and a cozy fireplace framed by plush sofas set the scene as waves caress the shore beyond.
A yellow and pink Impala, skates, a surfboard, a pink gym, and a sandbox adorned the upper floor, exhibiting Ken's zest for life. Meanwhile, a telescope is placed on the edge of the balcony for stargazing.
Back in 2019, a promotional video peeled back the layers of this iconic haven. Among the flashy features was a room teeming with creativity-inspiring tools, while Barbie's wardrobe dazzled with an array of ensembles, including a fireman kit printed with Barbie's signature logo, an astronaut costume, colorful shoes, and other outfits to cater for a fun dress-up party.
A Glimpse into the Set of Barbie's Dreamhouse in the Live-Action Movie
A few weeks ago, Margot Robbie showcased a sneak peek into Barbie's Dreamhouse set in the live-action movie. The on-screen version stayed true to its dollhouse counterpart with a pink slide running from the bedroom to the waterless pool, which Robbie called her favorite feature.
It also has a kitchen with a pink fridge, tables, and windows, offering glimpses of the doll neighborhood. Barbie's bedroom is sheer luxury with a clamshell headboard and sequined covers.
Writer and director Greta Gerwig revealed the interiors drew inspiration from the 1950s and early 60s, which reflected Barbie's inception in 1959. The set's vivacity also paid homage to the era's musicals.
"I can't even tell you about the meetings we've had about pink! We sat with all these different kinds of pinks, and we were like, 'What is the pink? How do the pinks interact?' When I was a girl, I wanted the brightest things," shared Gerwig.
Production designer Sarah Greenwood disclosed that the sheer volume of paint utilized led to a global shortage of the fluorescent hue.
Gerwig aimed for the ultimate "kid-ness" experience, opting for hand-painted backdrops over CGI to maintain "authentic artificiality" as they set out to realize Barbie's world.
Some delightful accents include pink monkey figurines casually hanging around, an array of wigs that Barbie donned from scene to scene, and Barbie's iconic pink convertible, which she effortlessly "floated" down from her bedroom.
In essence, Barbie's DreamHouse, both in reality and on-screen, is an unapologetic celebration of all things pink, vibrant, and youthful, as the world of Barbie comes to life with a splash of fantasy and a dash of nostalgia.
