Margot Robbie Sees Kids in Her Future Yet Doesn't Like Being Asked about Them

Margot Robbie has been married to British filmmaker Tom Ackerley since 2016, and since they tied the knot, questions about kids became an inevitable part of the "Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey" actress' life.

Margot Robbie and her husband Tom Ackerley appear not to be in a hurry to add to their family and has emphasized their plans to have children later. However, despite that, it has not stopped reporters from asking questions time after time.

That persistence may have become annoying for Robbie at some stage. She spoke about people's assumptions about marriage and babies and said that it is not always the same for every couple, regardless of what society has instilled in people's minds.

Margot Robbie Doesn't Want to Be Asked about Kids

It is almost a decade since Robbie and Ackerley met while filming "Suite Française," a movie about the Second World War starring Michelle Williams. Their relationship started a year later, in 2014, before getting married two years later.

Since then, the couple has kept the number of their family members to two. For some, this may be a long time without children. Therefore, questions about if and when Robbie will decide to have kids have followed the couple, especially Robbie, in many interviews. That seemed to get on her nerves. In 2019, she pointed out:

"I got married, and the first question in almost every interview is, 'Babies? When are you having one?' I'm so angry that there's this social contract. You're married, now have a baby. Don't presume. I'll do what I'm going to do."

Margot Is Not Ready to Have Children

Because of Robbie's lack of children, the question about kids became a certainty in interviews. And her answer has always been somewhere along the lines of no or not in the near future. While talking to Porter in 2018, Robbie revealed that she was not ready for that responsibility.

She explained her situation using a scenario where her husband had brought home a dog from the shelter, which brought the number of dogs they had to two. The two-year-old dog from the shelter was giving her sleepless nights, and she thought, "I cannot cope with two dogs, what about children?"

However, she sees herself having some in the long run. While narrating her story of the two puppies, she added, "if I'm looking into my future 30 years from now, I want to see a big Christmas dinner with tons of kids there. But definitely not at the moment. That's 100 percent certain."

The idea of a family or children is not new to Robbie, who grew up in a family of four children raised by a single mother. The actress said it was not easy for her mother, but she was a strong woman and held things together. Their family seems to have had an adventure-filled childhood as they did activities such as boar-hunting and surfing.

Margot and Her Husband Were Looking for Baby Clothes

In October 2021, five years after their marriage, fans got excited at the news that Robbie and Ackerley were looking for baby clothes. The couple was spotted in Notting Hill, London, visiting various baby boutiques. The pair seemed entirely focused on their mission but still enjoying themselves.

It was reported that their little trip to the upmarket resulted in them buying several clothes packed into several shopping bags. The most notable purchase was a cream-colored teddy bear before buying flowers on their way to the Granger and Co. restaurant, where they shared a meal.

However, the pair had not said anything about a baby coming their way; hence, there was a high possibility that they were shopping for friends or family. And now, over a year down the line and still no kids for the pair, that remains the most probable reason.

Nevertheless, talk about Margot Robbie and Ackerley having a baby has continued to grab the headlines now and then. And still, the couple has not made that long-awaited announcement, and when it comes, "the kids will be raised in Australia," as their mother said.
