Toby Keith ‘Is Back’ to Performing with Impromptu First Show Amid Cancer Battle
There's no stopping Toby Keith from doing what he loves – performing on stage. The American singer-songwriter recently turned his rehearsal into his first show since revealing his cancer diagnosis.
Toby Keith was born to be a performer, and nothing, not even cancer, could stop him from taking center stage. The famous musician turned his July 2023 rehearsal into a pop-up show that lasted two and a half hours.
Looking laid back in a white and gray jacket and a cap, Keith happily sang all his hits while playing his guitar. Photos from the evening were posted on his official Facebook account.
It only took a few hours for Keith to perform again, this time with his proclaimed "writing buddy," Scotty Emerick. According to his post, singing on a stage felt like the right thing that Keith had to do two nights in a row.
Several fans wished Keith well in the comments section, praying for his cancer recovery. "May God bless you and keep you on the road to full remission and recovery and making good music," one fan wrote.
Meanwhile, another fan hoped Keith would produce more music and tour again. A third fan praised the artist, claiming she loved his music.
The "I Love This Bar" singer first announced his bout with stomach cancer on June 13, 2022. Through a tweet, he narrated how he spent the past six months undergoing surgery, radiation, and chemo, as a part of his treatment. He added:
"So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover, and relax."

Keith gave his fans a health update a year later, claiming he was feeling great and that things were going well. However, he acknowledged that cancer could go from bad to good in seconds, so it was best he prepared.

Not long ago, fans claimed that Toby Keith looked frail and far from his old self. While some fans may not see him the same way, his wife and three children have nothing but love and support for Keith as he recovers on their secluded ranch.

Keith remains in high spirits and hopes to do a full-length show again. To fans' excitement also plans to start touring by year-end.
A few days before his performances, Keith held a fund-raising golf tournament and accumulated a record-breaking amount for his foundation, The Toby Keith Foundation. His organization aims to support cancer programs for pediatric patients.
