Heard and Depp's bitter divorce was the gossip on everyone's lips for months as they made harsh accusations about one another and were embroiled in a highly publicized defamation trial.
The accusations Heard made against Depp caused people to see the actor in a different light and even affected his career as directors and producers were not keen to hire him for any roles.
Since the defamation trial was settled, Depp has been attempting to revive his acting career as he tours with his band, Hollywood Vampires. In the meantime, he has had to take out a $10 million loan on his LA mansion.

Depp took the loan out in March 2022 after spending part of $650 million on the litigation with Amber Heard and squandering the rest. The actor took the loan with City National Bank, also known as "Bank to the Stars," because of the many famous names who borrow money there.

After all the accusations Heard made about Depp in the defamation trial, the actor was dropped from the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise, and he has since been touring with his band instead of acting.
While touring with the band has been a practical way for Depp to escape the prying eyes of Hollywood, it has yet to bring in enough money for the actor to maintain his castle home.

Nevertheless, Depp does not live there. Instead, the actor has favored his island home in the Bahamas, where he spends most of his downtime.

While filming 2003's "Pirates of the Caribbean," Depp spotted an island and knew he wanted to own it. He purchased the property for $3.6 million a year later. There was nothing on the island when he bought it, but Depp soon built a ranch-style home there.

Depp then spent $8 million on a yacht so he could easily access his island. The vessel consisted of eight crew members, costing at least $300,000 monthly to maintain. However, the ship has since been sold.
Each beach on his island is named after something special to him. One beach is named Lily-Rose, and the other is named Jack, after his two children. Another is named after his ex-wife, Vannessa Paradis.
A fourth beach is named Gonzo to honor the late author, Hunter S. Thompson, while a fifth is called Brando after Marlon Brando, who Depp consulted when he initially wanted to purchase the island.

Depp's 2015 wedding to Heard was hosted on one of the beaches on Depp's island before the pair ultimately fell out and became involved in the highly publicized lawsuit. Now, Depp spends much of his time there alone.
While he has mortgaged his home and is not acting as much anymore, Depp's fans have remained loyal to the actor and support his music career.
