Quinta Brunson's parents have become a topic of interest among fans as the actress revealed that she drew a lot of inspiration for her hit series, "Abbott Elementary," from her mother. The actress has opened up about her mom but has yet to share details about her father.

Quinta Brunson's Mother Was Surprised by How Much Inspiration Her Daughter Drew from Her Teaching Career

Brunson's mother spent 40 years as a teacher in Philadelphia, the same district her daughter's hit series is set. The actress was in her mother's kindergarten class and went to the school where her mother taught from first to fifth grade.

As a result, she spent years hearing about her mother's experience as a teacher on the bus ride home and a trip to school in the mornings. "I think that gave me a better respect for teachers [...]," Brunson said. And after the first episode of "Abbott Elementary" aired, the inspiration she drew from her mother surprised her mom. The actress shared:

"My mom is even surprised about how much I had taken in because when she sees the shows, she can't believe certain things that are in it because she hadn't realized I was paying that much attention."

Although She Does Not Speak about Her Father, Quinta Brunson Has a Relationship with Both Her Parents

In November 2020, during the uncertainty of the pandemic, Brunson shared heartwarming pictures of her parents and revealed that she had taken the necessary precautions to see her mom and dad.

In the first slide, Brunson's parents posed for the camera in each other's embrace, followed by a snap of all three of them. Once the Covid-19 regulations were lifted and it was safe to socialize, Brunson took her parents as her dates for her Jimmy Fallon interview.

"Came to do Jimmy Fallon♥️ brought my parents, but I know they only came here to see Jimmy as you can see from the majority of the photos [...]," the actress captioned the post in part.

Quinta Brunson's Parents Gave Her a Meaningful Name after Welcoming Her 20 Years after Their Eldest Child

Two decades after their eldest son was born and four children later, Brunson's parents proved they had room for a fifth in their family and welcomed her in 1989. After their fifth child was born — eight years after her closest sibling — they named the actress Quinta, the Spanish word for fifth.

Coming from a big family, Quinta Brunson revealed that one of her favorite reactions to her series was people looking forward to catching "Abbott Elementary" — co-starring Tyler James Williams, Lisa Ann Walter, and Zack Fox — with their families.
