Bob Weir's Wife, Natascha Münter, Is an LGBTQ+ Ally

When the HB2 bathroom bill passed in North Carolina in 2016, Natascha used one of Dead and Company's shows to express solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community in the state. She designed t-shirts using the rock band's logo and the Pride flag for their then-upcoming show in Charlotte.

The following year, her sister, Leilani Münter, lauded her efforts to uplift the community. She wrote, "My brother-in-law Bob Weir and my big sister always fight on the right side of history, thanks Natascha and Bobby!"

Natascha extended her advocacy to voting and women's reproductive rights. She and Bob attended a march in October 2021, where Bob held up a sign that read, "TEXAS. WHERE A VIRUS HAS REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS AND WOMEN DON'T."

Natascha Münter's Parents Were Health Professionals

Natascha's mother was a hypertension nurse who worked at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, and her late father was an esteemed neurologist. Alongside Leilani, she had two other sisters. Her family moved to Phoenix, Arizona, following Leilaini's accident that led to brain injury.

There, Natascha's father co-founded the Department of Neurology at a then-newly established branch of the Mayo Clinic and worked until he retired in 1995. The Münter patriarch sadly passed in February 2021.

Little is known about Natascha's other siblings, but Leilani is a renowned racecar driver who has worked with Elon Musk and once served as a body double for Catherine Zeta-Jones. Leilani often shares posts featuring her sister. She once tweeted that people used to think Natascha was Phoebe Cates in the 1980s.

Natascha Münter and Bob Weir Married in 1999

Natascha met Bob when he was a guitarist for Grateful Dead. She snuck backstage following one of the band's shows, and the two struck a friendship. Their romance began years later following the death of Jerry Garcia.

Bob realized he wasn't getting any younger and eventually settled down with the former teacher when they married in July 1999. They tied the knot at an intimate ceremony in Mill Valley, where Bob donned a kilt.

The musician's adoptive parents were Scottish. Speaking about his chosen wedding attire, he explained, "When you're adopted into a Scottish clan, your blood is basically transformed into Scottish blood."

Bob added that he only planned on marrying once, so he wanted to honor that. He said he might get buried in a kilt, too. He and Natascha welcomed two daughters, Chloe Weir, who graduated high school in 2020, and Shala Monet Weir, who attended Chapman University.

The couple stays active and spends quality time together. In May 2023, Bob posted snaps from their then-recent sunset walk, captioning, "Phoenix at sunset with the lovely @Natascha_Weir." The two also stay in shape by working out together. Additionally, Natascha is a vegan advocate.
