Suzanne Somers, celebrated for her roles in "Three's Company" and "Step by Step," passed away at the age of 76. She died early Sunday morning, just one day shy of her 77th birthday, as confirmed by a statement from her publicist.

"Suzanne Somers passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of October 15th. She survived an aggressive form of breast cancer for over 23 years," her publicist R. Couri Hay said. "Suzanne was surrounded by her loving husband Alan, her son Bruce, and her immediate family."

Somers' family was set to celebrate her birthday on Monday. "Instead, they will celebrate her extraordinary life," the publicist said. It was also revealed that there will be a private family burial the same week, and a memorial will be held next month.

Somers was a remarkable actress, composer, and producer, best known for her roles in 1977's "Three's Company" and 1987's "She's the Sheriff." In July 2023, she took a step back from the limelight to confront her cancer diagnosis.

Up until her passing, the actress often appeared with her husband, Alan Hamel, 87, on her popular Facebook Live show. However, fans took notice of her recent absences. Hamel had shared with the media that his wife was attending to pressing health matters.

Hamel opened up about his late wife's enduring struggle with cancer, stating, "Suzanne lived with cancer all her life." According to him, Somers faced health challenges from a young age.

In her 20s, she found herself in "the waiting room for cancer" after being diagnosed with two severe hyperplasia in her uterus. In her 30s, she contended with skin cancer on her back, then she battled breast cancer in her 50s. The "Step By Step" star also had a hysterectomy years ago.

More recently, Hamel revealed that the actress "dealt with her cancer once again." As of June 6, 2023, she had been declared cancer-free. However, they had remained vigilant in monitoring the disease. Fortunately, up until her passing, Somers had the unwavering support of someone exceptional by her side.

Her supportive husband had given his wife an early birthday present before her passing. He gifted her with a handwritten love poem and her favorite pink peonies. Somers lost her battle to cancer just three months after her husband revealed that she was battling an aggressive breast cancer.

In her caption, the star called herself a fighter in the midst of her battle against breast cancer and revealed how she'd been using alternative and conventional treatments to beat the disease. She also expressed how fortunate she was to have her husband by her side all the way.

She commended him for all he's done for her and confessed that they were closer than ever. The celebrity also credited the support of her family, who kept her business afloat. She thanked her fans for their love and support before declaring her love for them.

In May 2021, it was reported that Somers and Hamel had sold their Palm Springs, California home where they lived for 44 years since 1977. In the past, fans were treated to images of the decades-old Palm Springs mansion they parted with, including the original dipping pool, waterfall, and pond.

In 2007, the duo also owned a Malibu oceanfront cottage, but when a fire burned it down, they left the land empty before selling it for $12.03 million in 2016. According to a report, the couple had spent $10 million to acquire the mansion.

After selling their Palm Springs property, the couple was said to be moving to a much smaller home since their children and grandchildren didn't come around much. The couple described the new home located near their old home as "sexy," and revealed they were turning it into "an ecological oasis."

Hamel revealed that they were making the home "as green as possible," with balanced and perfect air quality and drywalling that didn't use chemicals. The house is equipped with solar power, has an organic garden, and other eco-friendly amenities.
