- Bindi Irwin and her family live in "the most magical place."
- The TV personality tied the knot at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic with a surprise ceremony.
- Surrounded by lush nature, she privately struggled with an undiagnosed sickness for a decade.
Bindi Irwin is the eldest of the late "The Crocodile Hunter" host Steve Irwin. With her dad's charisma and heart for conservationism, she has continued his legacy. Her activism does not end with wildlife; recently, she opened up about her medical issues.
Like her parents, Bindi started her family within the perimeters of the Australia Zoo in Queensland, Australia. Steve and his American conservationist wife, Terri Raines, have lived in the idyllic enclave since they wed in 1992.

Born Bindi Sue Irwin, on July 24, 1998, in Buderim, Queensland, Australia, Bindi had a natural affinity for showmanship from a young age. She appeared on some episodes of her father's show and headed two seasons of "Bindi, the Jungle Girl," for which she won Emmy and Logie Awards in 2008.
She made her cinematic debut in "Free Willy: Escape from Pirate's Cove" in 2010. The child star had a voice role in "Curious George" and guest starred in "My Babysitter's a Vampire." As Nim Rusoe, she starred in 2013's adventure "Return to Nim's Island."

In recent years, she has been seen on television with "Wild Times," and in a docu-series with her mother and brother, Robert Irwin, on Animal Planet's "Crikey! It's the Irwins."
She made her return to scripted content with a voice part in "Spidey and His Amazing Friends." Bindi is not just agile when working with venomous creatures; she won season 21 of "Dancing with the Stars" in 2015 with Derek Hough.

When she was only eight, Bindi's father, Steve, died on September 4, 2006, off the coast of Port Douglas, Queensland, close to the Great Barrier Reef.
He was filming "Ocean's Deadliest" when he was stung in the chest by a venomous bull stingray. He went into cardiac arrest and was dead within an hour.

Bindi Irwin's Home Is in the 'Most Magical Place in the World to Live' with Her Family
The reality star met her future husband, Chandler Powell, in her teens in November 2013. Florida native Chandler was in Australia for a wakeboarding competition, a watersport he had practiced since just before his 13th birthday.
He was holding a koala bear when they were introduced at the Australia Zoo; it was love at first sight for the professional wakeboarder who was fortunate to be at the park on a day Bindi was giving tours. He recalled:
"I'm like, 'Wow, she is amazing.'"
Similarly, Bindi remembers their first meeting as "incredible." Her parents had also met at the zoo, then known as the Beerwah Reptile Park.
Growing up, Chandler was a big fan of "The Crocodile Hunter." Bindi shared a photo in April 2020 of him holding a VHS tape of her father as a child.
Chandler's introduction on her Instagram grid in mid-2015 was not as a boyfriend, but it was significant because she introduced him as a new member of the Wildlife Warriors team. Later that year, she went public with their relationship while competing on "DWTS."
The "Return to Nim's Island" star felt "lucky" to have someone who was "excited and up for the challenge" of taking on their busy life when he moved to Australia permanently at the start of 2018. She uploaded an aerial shot of the zoo in October 2020:
"My home. The most magical place in the world to live. I feel like every day [Australia Zoo] gets more beautiful. "
She told a magazine in 2018 that their house is "right in the middle" of the park, adding, "We have crocodiles on one side and tigers on the other." Terri called it "the most peaceful place," with the added benefit of never being late for work.
The former Florida man celebrated his girlfriend's 21st birthday by popping the question on July 24, 2019. With the COVID-19 pandemic, the couple pivoted from having a wedding with 200 guests to an intimate surprise ceremony at the Australia Zoo on March 25, 2020.
They added another member to their small family on their first wedding anniversary with the birth of their daughter Grace Warrior Irwin Powell. Through the years, the couple has shared glimpses of their home surrounded by paradise.
For their first Christmas time with Grace, Bindi uploaded a video in her stories of their massive Christmas tree where one can see their quirky feature wall of a mountaintop mural which looks extra impressive with their high ceilings.
As it is summer in Australia over December, their magnificent 70s-style stone fireplace was not lit. Grace's nursery was done up with beautiful decals in soft shades of pink, grey, brown, and green, of bunnies with flowers around their ears, butterflies, and flowers.
Surgery Helped Bindi Irwin Regain Her Life
On March 7, Bindi took the brave step of sharing her health battle on social media. The TV personality admitted she had struggled for ten years with "insurmountable fatigue, pain, and nausea." One doctor told her that it was something women had to deal with.
After years of tests and scans, she lost hope when a friend directed her on a path to regain her life. She opted to undergo endometriosis surgery this year, where they found 37 lesions and what she referred to as a "chocolate cyst." During recovery, her surgeon asked:
"How did you live with this much pain?"
"Please be gentle & pause before asking me (or any woman) when we'll be having more children," she advised in the emotional health update, adding:
"After all that my body has gone through, I feel tremendously grateful that we have our gorgeous daughter. She feels like our family's miracle."
Bindi encouraged other women to "Keep searching for answers" and take her post as validation that their pain is real and they deserve help.
