Fans Worry Simon Cowell Had a ‘Stroke’ Seeing His Latest Video Months After He Lost His Voice on Show

In May 2023, Cowell returned to the "American Idols" singing competition as a judge for the reality show's 18th season. However, he experienced the unexpected while filming the show.
The English native revealed that at the beginning of the season after something stuck in his throat. He explained that he saw a doctor who put a camera up his nose and down his throat to see what had occurred:
"I think what happened was the acid from my stomach literally burned my vocal cords."
Cowell had to go on immediate vocal rest, which affected his job on "AGT" as fellow judge Sofia Vergara "deliberately" misinterpreted what he told her. He had to remain silent during the show and expressed:

Following one contestant's performance, Amy Lou, Cowell could not speak and appeared to be choking slightly. Cowell explained to Lou: "I’m sorry. I’m having trouble speaking. Please tell me how you’re feeling right now." This caused concern among viewers.

On August 10, 2023, Cowell posted a video on his Instagram congratulating the former boy band, One Direction "for reaching 1 billion streams for 'What Makes You Beautiful' on Spotify.
However, his Instagram followers paid more attention to what he looked like instead and began making assumptions about his state of health in the comments section.

"JUST LOOK AT HIS FACE! MOST DEFINITELY A STROKE!" wrote one Instagram user, and someone exclaimed in agreement, "SIMON HAD A STROKE!!!!!!"
While a third echoed the same sentiments, "Looks like he had a stroke or something." One other person shared their observation from the clip, writing, "His mouth is working the same on both sides. It's almost like he had a stroke."
Someone else accused Cowell of having had a "Bad, bad Botox job," adding, "You look like you had a stroke." One individual stated, "Omg, he looks like a corpse."

While another claimed that she came across something online that claimed the music executive had died. The death hoax was on Twitter, and Twitter users were shocked to learn about Cowell's supposed death.
One social media user asked, "WHAT DO YOU MEAN SIMON COWELL DIED?" While another also questioned, "Simon Cowell died?" and another asked, "SIMON COWELL DIED IN A FIRE??"
Cowell Got Involved in an Accident
In 2022, Cowell broke his arm in an electric bike accident. However, despite the unfortunate incident and the result, the television personality admitted he would not stop cycling.
Cowell is reportedly an avid cyclist who endured an injury-inducing tumble that year. He frankly spoke about his recovery in May 2023 and described the experience as "painful" while revealing he was "unfit" before the accident.
Still, he admitted that he is obsessed with bikes and would continue pedaling, considering that he eventually healed from the ordeal. Fortunately, he did not have to undergo surgery because he did not snap a ligament.
Months after the accident, Cowell provided a health update saying, "I"m fine. It was a stupid accident. It was just annoying, mainly because I couldn't ride my bike. For six weeks, I [was] walking, and walking is the most boring thing on the planet."
