Her passion for the environment eventually made her an environmental justice advocate. She became the Union of Concerned Scientists's Florida Coastal Expert in 2012 and the Southeast Climate Science and Community Advocate.

Hammer focused much on addressing the impacts of climate change in colored low-income communities, teaching residents about the realities of climate change and the many ways they can minimize their impact on it.

He supported Oscar Isaac's career and agreed to be Isaac's double in "Moon Knight." Given his dissociative disorder role, Hernandez would portray whichever character Isaac wasn't momentarily playing. Hernandez received notes and guidance from his brother throughout the project. Isaac said:

"It was wild to have him on set and to play off of. He's a great actor, and we share DNA, so he was very helpful. I couldn't have done this with anyone else. [...] He really knows me so well, so we improvise sometimes together."

Isaac contacted his brother two months before taping began and invited him to be the double. "Once he sent me that text, that was so exciting," Hernandez said. "I was just so stoked to join."

Hammer, Hernandez, and Isaac were born to Maria Eugenia and Oscar Gonzalo Hernández-Cano, of Guatemalan and Cuban descent. They relocated to the US shortly after Isaac was born and have since found success in the country. Sadly, their mother suffered from health issues and passed away in 2017.

Isaac is now a family man with two children, Eugene and Mads Isaac, whom he shares with his loving wife, Elvira Lind. The duo prefers keeping their family life away from the spotlight.
