Country singers Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood have been married for eighteen years. The celebrity couple recently shared the secret to a happy marriage with a pal.
"Good Morning America" posted a video of the celebrity couple on Twitter in August 2023. They discussed how to keep the romance going and also joked about married life while at it.
In the clip, Brooks jokingly said one person has to be miserable in a marriage, to which his wife replied, "That's right. And I am not happy," before they both started bursting with laughter.
"You want to know the secret to a happy marriage?" Brooks asked, grabbing Yearwood's hand, as the duo said simultaneously, "Marry your best friend." The Hollywood pair were asked to share their words of wisdom as they congratulated broadcaster Robin Roberts and her fiancée Amber Laign for their upcoming wedding.

Brooks' Weight Loss Journey - He Lost 50LBS
Besides their successful love journey, Brooks and Yearwood have faced their share of challenges, including being overweight. In September 2022, he got candid about his weight loss journey, revealing that he shed 50lbs.

The country music star, then 60, said he wanted to be in the best shape possible so that he could run around the stage as he prepared to perform for his five-night run at Croke Park.

Brooks said that his weight at the time was the same as when he played Croker for the first time in 1997 at age 35. He then added:
"For 16 years, I was a soccer dad. Last on the list. And it takes a while to get back to the artist feel."

"The Friends in Low Places" hitmaker further divulged it had taken him eight years to be in that mental state while stating what he would like to see change:
"[…] I'm the same weight I was when we played her in 97, that’s what I want. […] I lost 50lbs."

Yearwood's Emotional Weight Loss Journey
As for Brooks' wife, Yearwood, she started trying to lose weight when she was only a teenager. The Georgia native once revealed that she comes from a family that is "genetically and habitually predisposed to be heavy."

Yearwood further shared that she had tried several weight loss programs throughout the years, but none had a lasting effect on her goal.

While on a trip to Haiti with Habitat for Humanity in 2012, she noticed something about her body after trying out yo-yo dieting for several years. Yearwood recalled once:
"I really felt my weight on that trip. I'd put a few extra pounds on top of the 20 extra that I always carried. I didn't feel great."

Following the trip, it dawned on the "Back Home Again" singer that she had to do something about her weight instead of complaining about it. Yearwood had had enough of losing the same amount of weight, saying:
"I felt, 'Just do it, or shut up about it.'"

The showbiz star shared that her husband has been nothing but supportive of her journey and never once made her feel insecure about her weight. She called him "Superman" for it.

Brooks always told his wife she was beautiful, adding how he wished she could see herself the way he did. He said to her, "I love you at this weight, and the only other weight I love you at is whatever weight you are." With Yearwood losing 30lbs, the couple, who wed in December 2005, lost a combined 80lbs.
