Luke from ‘The Dukes of Hazzard’ Turns 72: He Hoped to Restore ‘Good Name’ after Investigations & Started Music Career
- Television star Tom Wopat recently turned 72!
- Although he has a steady acting career, Wopat has faced trouble with the law over the years.
- He is now focused on his music career while juggling acting.
Veteran star Tom Wopat is a household name in Hollywood. However, his acting and music careers have been marred with run-ins with the law on several occasions.
Wopat is best known for portraying the role of Luke Duke in the long-running television action 1980s series, "The Dukes of Hazzard," which aired for seven seasons.
However, several years after the show ended, the actor had trouble with the law. In August 2017, the Wisconsin native was arrested for assault and battery in Massachusetts.
He pleaded not guilty to inappropriately touching a woman he was set to co-star with on a local production called "42nd Street." Police officers also revealed they found what they believed was cocaine in his possession at the time of the arrest.

Still, Wopat remained adamant that he did nothing wrong and expressed hope that his "Good name" would be cleared following his team's investigation of the allegation. He made $1,000 bail then.
The following year, in July 2018, Wopat found himself in the same situation yet again when he pleaded guilty to touching two women inappropriately in the cast of a musical in Massachusetts and was sentenced to a year of probation.

The singer has recorded many albums, including a 2014 Christmas album with his dear friend and co-star, John Schneider, who played his cousin on the show and whose daughter Karis followed in his acting footsteps.
