Girl Leaves School in Tears after Teacher Makes Her Change Her Trousers & Feel 'Fat'
- A 12-year-old girl went home early from school after being humiliated by school teachers for how her trousers looked.
- The schoolgirl excitedly dressed up for the first day, only to be told to model several skirts and trousers to see which fit better.
- When none of them did, she secretly begged her parents to pick her up and went home early that day.
The first day of school is often fun for students, as they have plenty of things to share about their summer vacations. It's a time to reconnect with friends, meet new ones, and orient themselves about what's to come.
However, for one 12-year-old girl named Nevie, her excitement turned to humiliation when a teacher stopped her in the hallway to tell her that her trousers were too tight. The teachers told her to change and instead wear the replacement uniforms provided by the school.
Unfortunately, none of the replacement uniforms fit. Nevie felt "humiliated," asking the teachers for help on what she should do.

Teachers Asked Her to Change Several Times
They made her change her trousers several times, asking her to come out to show them so they could decide whether they fit better. Ultimately, Nevie was so upset that she secretly called her parents to pick her up because she just wanted to go home.
Nevie felt "fat" that none of the provided uniforms fit her. She was embarrassed and couldn't help but cry to her parents.

After hearing about what happened, Nevie's dad drove to the school and picked up his daughter. He told the school he didn't appreciate what they did to her.
Nevie's mom, Tasha Minogue, said they were aware of the school's new uniform policy and had no plans of breaching it. However, because her daughter was more on the "chunky" side like her mom, the trousers looked tighter compared to when worn by Nevie's friends.

Not wanting her child to be further left out, the mom ordered the pleated tailored gray skirts the school required of their female students despite being expensive. Because the tailor skirts zipped up at the side, she claimed it was "horrific" for larger ladies to wear, and she's yet to find one that fits her daughter well.
Because the skirts didn't fit well, the mom and daughter duo settled for the trousers, which the mom felt were not as tight as the teachers were playing it out to be. Her daughter even showed how she looked before she went to school that day.

The Family Felt Stressed Over the Situation
The proud mom added that her daughter never caused any trouble at school. "She's really sporty and puts 100% effort into school – all the teachers like her, and she causes zero issues," she added.
The situation brought about even more stress for the family, as they were already dealing with Nevie's younger brother's hospitalization for Kawasaki disease. Tasha had to order different things for Nevie while in the hospital room with her son.

After Tasha spoke out about her daughter's experience, other parents revealed their children went through the same thing. One mom claimed her daughter was suspended because her trousers were too tight, even though they weren't.
She went on to say that the school didn't bother contacting her that her daughter was sent home. They e-mailed her three hours later when she was already home.

Another mom claimed that the same school Nevie attended, Colne Valley High School, had 80 girls in the sports hall because their uniforms were wrong. All of them were threatened with suspension over their uniforms.
Due to the backlash the school received, its new principal, Kate Smith, had to release a statement over their new uniform policy. She clarified that the administration effectively communicated the changes throughout the summer so they could be aware of the expectations.

She added that they also communicated what would happen when a student did not follow the policy, adding these students were a small minority. Smith also clarified that despite what some moms claim, no suspensions were issued due to the uniform policy.
People were divided in the comments section on Facebook, where some felt bad for the student. In contrast, others defended the school, who gave their instructions months before implementation so families had plenty of time to adjust.
What do you think of the situation? Was the mom right to blast the school over their uniform policy, or should it have been handled differently?
In another story, a dad made his daughter wear ugly clothes to school as punishment for bullying a girl. Others claimed his punishment was too lenient.
