There have been guesses about when the new season will premiere, and a few important figures in the show's creation have shared glimpses into what fans can expect in season 3 of "The Legend of Vox Machina."

What Is 'The Legend of Vox Machina' About?

Following the success of the streaming show "Critical Role," the mystical universe of fantasy adventure was expanded when the adult animated series "The Legend of the Vox Machina" was created.

Set in the fictional world of Exandria, the show follows the seven-member Vox Machina team and other characters as they set out on action-packed adventures and missions to protect their universe. The popular show also adopts some of the classic arcs from the original web series, such as avenging the murder of the rulers of the town of Whitestone.

The aminated series has been refined to match its more mature audience's palate. And while it still holds onto the youthful excitement of non-fiction, animation, and fantasy, the show's grown-up characters and adult humor have contributed to it becoming a hit.

The 'The Legend of Vox Machina' Cast on the Success of the Show

"The Legend of Vox Machina" is centered around a band of unlikely heroes that are a mix of fascinating characters such as a gnome, a half-elf, a gunslinger, a grizzly bear companion, a half-elf druid, and a gaggle. However, despite coming in all shapes and sizes, each character and creature unite to defeat dark magical forces that threaten their home.

According to Ashley Johnson, the voice behind the character Pike Trickfoot, a gnome cleric, the show's success has a lot to do with the cast's "connection to each other and how we deeply, deeply we care for each other, and the story, and the stories that we've built together."

Details on Season 3 of 'The Legend of Vox Machina'

In 2022, during Comic Con in New York, it was revealed that "The Legend of the Vox Machina" was renewed for a third season. However, the Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and the Writer's Guild of America strike halted multiple productions in Hollywood.

Thousands of writers and actors were behind the strike as they fought against poor compensation from streaming services and its misuse of AI technology. Fortunately, the driving forces behind "The Legend of the Vox Machina" revealed that the strike did not impact the show's production schedule.

Instead, they revealed that they actually supported it, and reports have since anticipated the third season's release, which is guessed to hit small screens in early 2024.

Many of the beloved cast are also expected to return, including Taliesin Jaffe as Percy, Laura Bailey as Vex'ahlia, Liam O'Brien as Vax'ildan, Travis Willingham as Grog, Sam Riegel as Scanlan, and Mathew Mercer as multiple characters. The cast has also grown to include Gina Torres and Henry Winkler.

After the second season was left on an unnerving cliffhanger, it was suspected that season 3 of "The Legend of the Vox Machina" would pick up where it was left off — with The Chroma Conclave arc. Mercer confirmed this, sharing:

"The Chroma Conclave arc is a very long arc. To try and adapt that into a single season is a very daunting task. We were trying desperately to figure out if that was possible. Thankfully, it's not, and we got greenlit for season three."

O'Brien also shared his hopes for the third season and revealed that, much like everyone else, he hoped the entirety of the story of "The Legend of the Vox Machina" was told. "I feel like season two upped the game, and knowing what's possible, we don't ever want to dial backward. We just want to climb higher," the actor shared.
