More fans mentioned that seeing Clarkson's connection with River onstage was endearing, including how she made her feel at ease by making eye contact throughout the performance.
"The way she looks at her and encourages her is soo sweet and powerful!" said one TikTok user. Someone else stated, "Love how Kelly keeps her daughter from being nervous by having her focus on her."
One online user penned, "Love how she followed her mommy's lead," alongside heart-eyes emoji. "Mama made her feel like they are the only two in the room," another commented.
One fan expressed, "I love this. Such a beautiful relationship between the two. I love how Kelly is letting her have her moment as well." Another mentioned, "The core memories, love from mom, and confidence that's building."
"Omg I love this! So much love, caring and you can see how their relationship is amazing," one person wrote on the platform. While someone stated, "That baby has a very strong voice. She’s her mommy's girl."
River also lent her voice for her famous mom's latest song, "You Don't Make Me Cry," from the deluxe edition of her album, "Chemistry," released on September 22, 2023.
Remarking on her duet with her daughter, Clarkson revealed during her appearance on the "Today" show that her child just asked her to sing while she was in the studio, so she removed her voice from the track and allowed nine-year-old River to sing the entire song, which the proud parent described as "cute."
Asked if she would push her children to pursue careers in show business, including her son Remington, to follow in her footsteps, Clarkson said:
"No. I'm not going to not push. Whatever you want to do. It's hard for me to sit here and go, 'Don't do this it's a hard industry because I'm in it.' But I do think kids they grow up in it. It's hard for them not to be inspired by it or want to be a part of it."
On her talk show, "The Kelly Clarkson Show," the mother of two revealed River was bullied at school because of her dyslexia, adding that it is because struggles to read like the other children.
But the star mentioned the school had an assembly where students were shown several successful Hollywood stars who are also dyslexic, including Anthony Mackie, Zachary Levi, and Henry Winkler—who appeared on her show. The veteran actor gave the little one words of encouragement for dealing with the disability. He looked directly at the camera and said:
"Hear it, River. How you learn has nothing to do with how brilliant you are."
Clarkson's Divorce from Her Kids' Father
Clarkson welcomed her son and daughter with her former husband, Brandon Blackstock. The singer filed for divorce from the talent manager in November 2020 following almost seven years of marriage.
The former couple reportedly crossed paths in 2012 at the Superbowl XLVI. Blackstock and Clarkson dated for ten months before he asked her to marry him.
The pair wed in October 2013 at Blackberry Farms, Tennessee. Their children were only 5 and 4 when they decided to split. In the filing, Clarkson reportedly asked for joint custody of their kids.
The television personality once spoke candidly about going through a divorce while raising young children. She shared that her son and daughter have questioned the "definition of love," asking her if she does not love their dad anymore.
Clarkson explained that she told them she does love him but that they do not "like each other" like before. She also has divulged that she is teaching her offspring "to be honest" with her.
During her appearance on the "Andi Martinez IRL Podcast," in March 2023, Clarkson shared she checks on her children's wellbeing every night when she puts them to bed.
She asks them if they are "happy," and if not, she asks what she can do to change that. The songwriter also revealed that River and Remington have told her they are "sad" and wished she and their dad lived in the same house.
Clarkson and Blackstock finalized their divorce in March 2022, nearly two years after she initially filed. Legal documents stated she would have primary custody of their son and daughter in Los Angeles and that the executive producer would have custody on the first and fifth weekends of each month.
