Honey Boo Boo, 18, Seen with Boyfriend Who Was Arrested — Fan Worried If Them Living Together Is 'Legal'

There has been a recent sighting of Alana Thompson, aka Honey Boo Boo, coming home from college with her beau Dralin Carswell. The two caused ruptions earlier this year when it came out that they are moving in together.

Internet pundits found it hard to reconcile in July that the then-17-year-old was moving in with her then-21-year-old boyfriend. The pair has possibly been dating since the start of 2021 when the reality star said on an Instagram Q&A that she had a boyfriend.

Responding to a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) in July this year about the pair moving in together, one asked, "Is that even legal? She's a minor, and he is not." The age of consent in Georgia, where they lived, is 16.

"His trailer or hers?" a mean-spirited social media user wrote. "Moving in with a boyfriend at 17?!" another exclaimed. "She's had it rough," one commiserated.

"Toddlers and Tiaras" made Thompson and her mother, Mama June Shannon, reality television superstars from the late 2010s. There have since been many shows focused on the family, most recently "Mama June: From Not to Hot."

Upon graduating high school in May, Thompson told the media that she is set to study nursing in Denver, Colorado. She revealed later that her boyfriend would be going along with her. She said:

"I think he's more excited to move there than me. He's ready to move out of our small town and experience something new too."

Due to security reasons, she found a place to live off campus. She shrugged off any mention of joining a sorority, saying she is not a "Chanel bag type of girl." The prospective student added, "I'm gonna do my studies and graduate in 2029."

Over the weekend, Thompson looked like a typical college student walking through the airport with her boyfriend. The nursing student, who turned 18 last month, wore a topical Barbie branded shirt with black pants.

Alana Thompson was casual save for her now signature false eyelashes while carrying her white leopard-print carry-on. Carswell was in a beanie and a tie-dye hoody featuring a skull print.

Their four-year age gap had made them a controversial couple since the start of their relationship around 2021 when Thomson was 16. They went Instagram official with a photo of them in a pumpkin patch in matching shirts in September 2021.

Born in 2002, Thomson attended the Lincoln Technical School in Nashville. He has gotten into skirmishes with the law since he was 18. He was arrested on May 29, 2019, and charged with statutory rape.

The then 18-year-old had consensual intercourse with his 15-year-old girlfriend. He completed a pre-trial diversion program, which led to the dismissal of the charges. In March this year, Dralin Carswell was caught fleeing from a DUI and spent two days in jail.
